An Inspired Chat with Sassy Trucker of Houston , Texas

Sassy Trucker shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Sassy , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think what’s most misunderstood about my business is that people often assume trucking is just about sitting behind the wheel and moving freight. The truth is, it’s so much more than that. As drivers, we’re running full-fledged businesses on wheels. We’re dispatchers, accountants, mechanics, safety managers, and customer service reps all rolled into one. Every mile takes planning—fuel management, hours-of-service strategy, load timing, and dealing with unexpected challenges on the road.

Another misconception is that trucking is an isolating job. While it can feel that way, I’ve learned it’s really a career built on connection—connection with shippers, with other drivers, and with the communities we pass through. That’s part of why I share my journey as the ‘Sassy Trucker.’ I want to show the real side of trucking—the grit, the long nights, but also the pride and freedom that come with building something of your own behind the wheel.”*

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
*“My name is Tierra, but many people know me as The Sassy Trucker. I’m an over-the-road driver who has built a brand around showing the real side of life behind the wheel. Trucking for me isn’t just a job—it’s a lifestyle, a business, and a platform to inspire others.

What makes my journey unique is that I’ve faced my share of struggles, including overcoming personal challenges, and I’ve turned those experiences into a story of resilience and growth. Through social media, streaming, and now upcoming TV appearances, I share not only the day-to-day realities of trucking—long nights, tight deadlines, fueling strategies, breakdowns, and victories—but also the human side of it: the discipline, independence, and pride that come with running your own truck.

Right now, I’m focused on growing my brand, paying off my truck by October, and using my platform to give people an authentic look at this industry while also breaking stereotypes about who a trucker can be. My goal is to keep building bridges between the trucking world and the wider public—because our stories matter and they deserve to be told.”*

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the one I’ve built with my career in trucking. It might sound unusual to call trucking a ‘relationship,’ but that’s really what it has been for me. It has tested me, challenged me, and at the same time, taught me how strong, disciplined, and resilient I really am.

When I first started, I thought trucking was just about moving loads, but over time it showed me that I’m capable of running a business, managing challenges on my own, and creating opportunities where none seemed to exist. Trucking has given me independence and confidence, and it’s helped me turn my story—both the struggles and the wins—into something I can share with others. That relationship has shaped my identity more than anything else.”

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that’s held me back the most has been the fear of failure. For a long time, I worried about taking big risks—whether it was in trucking, starting my own brand, or putting myself out there publicly—because I didn’t want to fall short or be judged. But the road has taught me that failure is part of growth. Every setback, whether it was a load gone wrong or a personal challenge, became a lesson that made me stronger. Once I stopped letting that fear control me, I realized I could handle more than I ever thought possible.”

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me—but it’s not the whole me. What people see as ‘The Sassy Trucker’ is my authentic personality: confident, resilient, and unapologetically myself. At the same time, there are layers that the road teaches you to protect—moments of doubt, exhaustion, and vulnerability that don’t always make it onto the screen. I believe in showing the truth of trucking and my journey, but I also believe in keeping certain parts of myself grounded and private. Both sides are real, and together they make up who I am.”

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
think what people may misunderstand about my legacy is that it’s not just about trucking or being a personality—it’s about transformation. Some may only see the miles I’ve driven or the spotlight moments, but what I really want to leave behind is the message that no matter your struggles, you can rebuild yourself, create opportunities, and turn pain into purpose. My legacy isn’t about being perfect—it’s about showing that resilience, authenticity, and hard work can carry you further than fear ever will.”
