We recently had the chance to connect with Sonny Kruger and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Sonny, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Editing certainly makes me lose track of time. Since I’m going over the same scene so many times, it doesn’t feel like that much time is passing. Then I’ll look at the time and see it’s like six in the morning! To answer your question about how I find myself again, it involves something I do multiple times every day. I pray.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Writer of many stories like the “Positive” trilogy, “The Android And The Being”, “Fugue”, and “1900 Detective”. Actor, who has had lead roles in “A Series About A Series” and “Movements”. Director of my show “A Series About A Series”, which I also wrote, edited, and did music for. Plus, I am the host of The Code-X Podcast with The Code-X Station every Wednesday. I don’t like to let a single day go by without doing some work on at least one project of mine. That even includes when I’m on vacation!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My Nana always saw the good in me and seemed to know what I was destined for. She would even call me “The Chosen One”. This was before I ever even thought of becoming a writer. I’m proud to say I am the man she believed I would grow up to be.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I get frustrated and there have been times that I’ve been down, but I don’t ever consider giving up as an option. I am one stubborn and determined man who does what he sets out to do, even if it takes a long time and doesn’t seem realistic. For instance, I’ve dealt with quite a few losses over the past few years, but I still won’t give up on my show. Now, I can say that on September 26th, the final episode of my show “A Series About A Series” will be released on YouTube for the world to see.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I hope they know my loved ones and faith, but I know they know my show “A Series About A Series” is very important to me. I’ve only been working on it and mentioning it every day this whole decade.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I left The Code-X Station and/or the film industry tomorrow, I would hope they’d say they miss my charm and good looks! I look to be a good role model and bring happiness to those around me and my viewers, but I want them to still be inspired and happy even after I’m gone.
