Sydney-Anne Graves shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Sydney-Anne, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 Minutes of my day usually start with a quick yoga or stretching session, followed by a hot cup of water, which, I usually like to enjoy outside if it’s nice. After that, I try to have a bible study and set my intentions for the day.
I’ve noticed when I start my mornings off like this, avoiding being on my phone first thing, and really enjoying the little peaceful moments, it sets a good pace for the rest of the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I’m Sydney! I’m a 19 year old model, and owner of Monarch Books a brick and mortar Bookstore, located in Lebanon Oregon.
I am approaching 2 years of owning my own business! I focus on a variety of new and used books, games, and gifts.
I strive Monarch Books to not only be a place where people can enjoy literature and community. But also a place of creativity and comfort.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has made me who I am today.
I’ve found that with him all things are possible. I have never felt more confident, secure, and creative than when I am keeping him at the center of my life.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to be grateful!
I think that if all we ever experienced in this life was success, how would we learn? How would we grow?
Struggles and failures are something that have been so essential in my path to becoming successful, and greatful for all of the little things, as well as big.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would probably say that creativity, learning, and nature is what I value the most.
All three are things that ground me, and help me to appreciate the beauty of everyday life.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I have a good book in my hand, I’m painting a new piece with classical music playing, and the inspiration is flowing, or when I am spending time with God.
