Trevor Wendt shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Trevor, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about the music industry is how musicians do (or don’t) make money. The main factor that allows many musicians to continue to make music is merch and ticket sales.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Trevor Wendt and I am the bass player for the alternative metal band Evernoir. We’re located out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and focus heavily on topics of mental health and mental health awareness. We are currently focusing on writing new music to fit our new member configuration and learning to produce more of our own electronic elements into the music.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad was the person that really instilled a work ethic in me. He brought me along to a lot of the side jobs he would work when I was a kid. One of the main things he taught me was to make sure you check your work and make sure it’s the highest quality it can be before you move on to the next job.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Right before I joined Evernoir was about the lowest point I can remember ever being at. I made an active decision to embrace my pain and use it creatively instead of hiding it and myself. I realized it was much more beneficial to express any negativity in a healthy manner.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The person I am on stage is definitely the most pure form of myself I’ve ever been. Being up there instills me with a sense of confidence to be myself and let myself be seen because that’s what I need to do in order to connect with as many people as I can.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would probably remove all social media and disconnect from most online sources other than the few connections I need the internet to maintain. Being in the world brings me a great sense of fulfillment and so much of the addictive technology tends to dull my daily life.
