We recently had the chance to connect with Ari Moshe Wolfe and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Ari Moshe, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
That my teaching isn’t really about astrology. Astrology is more of the front, the gateway for the teachings themself. I think most people recognise this once they get a session with me or start studying with me more deeply – that the astrology teachings and practices as the vehicle for something universal. One of the most common expressions I get during a session is something like “this is a lot deeper and more revealing than I expected, not what I thought an astrology reading would be!”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ari Moshe Wolfe. I am an evolutionary astrologer trained in the lineage of Jeffrey Wolf Green. I teach a year long training program and additional mentorships for those more advanced. I offer client sessions and frequently post videos on my YouTube channel and write articles that relate to the current transits.
The work I do is focused on utilizing astrology a vehicle for our spiritual awakening. I see this life, all the forms and roles that we play, as the external facet of a much deeper inner reality. What I care most about is this inner reality: what is is that we are each working on, on an inner level? How do all our experiences point us back to the gem of our own awakening?
I think spiritual awakening is something we can’t control or categorize because it always eludes our existing understanding. We learn to cultivate a mind of openness and humility to the teachings as they come in life, recognizing that we didn’t “create the curriculum” so to speak as much as we “didn’t create our own selves”. The truth IS, and we are in a way undoing all of our beliefs in something else.
To me, astrology is a way to approach reading the unique nature of each soul’s personal soul path. It’s a way to validate and give a spiritual and soul-level context for the human life we are living. To me that is incredibly valuable, it’s a gift, and it’s also medicine to be shared and ingested wisely.
I try my best to make my teachings as accessible as possible. This means translating what I feel is going on (be it my read of the transits, or a person’s natal chart) in a way that is real to our actual lived human experience. I think the truth, the deeper teachings, are never alienating and should always be self-evident.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Deeply curious, open, caring, friendly and affectionate. I recall my older siblings (I am the youngest of 4) having friends over, and I was always so eager to play with them. I didn’t judge who, I was just available to share love and make connection. I have sweet memories as well of dancing when I was a very little child. Dancing until I get myself completely exhausted.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! When I was recording my first (and so far, my only – but not the last!) album. This recording process began in 2015. It was a dream (figuratively and literally in fact) of mine. And through my literal dreams, I was guided to connect with a particular musician who was going to help me. Other dreams fortold meetings I would have with other people who would be a part of my album. And it all came true.
In the process however I struggled with believing in myself and my own value/capacities. I gave up several times, and actually literally walked away from the project only to resume it 2 years later. Several times I considered letting go of my ambition, thinking i would instead just record some scratch tracks and not try to be “professional” in my musical production.
A deep inner feeling of “this is why you are here, don’t waste this opportunity” kept on nudging me to trod along. I got sick many times because of the inner stress and self-sabotage, But my dreams and the community in my life kept on showing me that there was in fact a purpose beyond my understanding. I learned to trust.
It took so much longer (and more expensive – I spent a lot of time and money on just one song, attempting to record it in two different studios, until I finally tried again in the third studio and kept it) than I anticipated. I finally pushed to get my album completed by the end of 2019 within a week of when my first daughter was born! This was a matter of knowing when to stop and to let go of “perfection”.
6 years and 2 kids later (plus a step son, a dog and a very busy life) I am eager to work on my next album. I love my music deeply. You can check it out on Spotify “Freedom is My Holy Name” by Ari Moshe Wolfe
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I like this question. If we consider that my industry is astrology, then the biggest lie is that astrology is in any way “causative”. I think as a society we are healing/re-clarifying a mistaken attitude that somehow there are right and wrongs experiences in life; that there are “good” and “bad” astrological transits.
A more true and healing attitude is that everything that happens is FOR us, and a part of our journey. The transits simply reflect our own inner cycles: inside and outside being one. The stars are maps for what is happening on the inside. When we understand this, then the study of astrology becomes synonymous with self-knowledge. Inseparable. I think this is what many industries miss, wherein astrology is often branded and taught as something extrinsic and doesn’t necessarily take us within to our own direct self-knowledge .
Perhaps this attitude is beginning to change in the collective, I think it is.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes absolutely. My life is between me and me. I want to do what I do because it’s my truth and calling, because I believe in myself.
