Optimism is like magic – it has the power to make the impossible a reality because it gives folks to courage and motivation to try. If there is one thing we believe everyone should guard with their life, it’s their optimism and so we asked some of the most optimistic folks we know to talk to us about how they developed their optimism.

I have always been a very positive person. I view it is a mindset. Life always has a way of working itself out. It may not always turn out the way you expect, but there is always a reason. I have found that being optimistic helps me get through the good and the bad with a level head. When I first started RSP Designs, I had no idea if I would get any traction. I had no clue if I was good enough or if people would be interested in my work. I wondered if a bride would trust me enough to make things for one of the biggest days of their life. Through this, I stayed true to myself and kept perfecting my craft. I stayed positive and confident that people would appreciate my work. It did not take long for RSP to gain followers and clients. A positive mindset can change everything. Read More>>

My optimism comes from my faith in God and the life experiences that He has brought me through. I was not always optimistic, I use to feel like a misfit or that good things dont happen to girls like me growing up. My thought pattern changed as I got older and God answered a prayer that I made during the time of dealing with domestic violence. I asked God ” please send me someone who would love me unconditionally”. I found out I was pregnant with my daughter shortly after and from there , I knew God was with me no matter what I went through in life. Read More>>

When I think of optimism, I instantly think of faith. They go hand and hand for me. I truly believe everything happens for a reason, so any time I’ve doubted myself, I stood strong in the notion that whatever I was feeling would pass. That skill of overcoming obstacles was birthed from experiences that I went through from a young age. Before I got into music, I wanted to be an actor, so I used to go on auditions a lot. Throughout that time, I got a ton of “no’s” which can be very hard for any person to endure when you’re chasing a dream. Read More>>

I am a naturally optimistic person. It’s part of who I am and is one of my strengths. One thing that is important to point out is that I am not optimistic at the expense of proper understanding or being realistic. Further, optimism for me is not fake positivity or putting a brave face on a bad situation. Optimism is akin to the science of hope for me and seeks to give others the best possible environment to succeed. In a personal or professional case, I try to look at situations from an uplifting perspective that attracts others. Read More>>

I spent almost 20 years teaching, mostly as an elementary school phys ed and special ed teacher. I saw hundreds of students every single year spanning kindergarten through 5th grade. Students had language and cultural barriers, physical limitations, mental limitations, problems at home. It’s just part of it. I was in an underprivileged school district and there were a lot of kids. Some classes literally had 70 Kindergartners. I saw Kindergarteners who didn’t know how to tie their shoes, and 5th graders who also didn’t. Read More>>

I like to think of myself as a beacon of light – bringing light to someone’s day – whether that be from smiling at someone, opening the door for them, or when someone comes in for a session with me.
I believe that even if something doesn’t feel good that we are learning from that experience to help us grow. For as long as I can remember I’ve always tried to “lift” my family and friends up when talking to them and spending time with them. Read More>>
