When you have a never-ending to-do list it can feel irresponsible to engage in self-care, but in our many conversations with some of the most productive business owners and creatives we’ve found that self-care is one of the most effective ways to boost productivity.

The concept of Self-Care didn’t come into my vocabulary until well into my 30’s. Growing up in a religious community that viewed paying attention to self as selfishness = bad. These days however, and creeping into my mid-40’s, I’ve found that the truth couldn’t be more opposite. In fact, self-care is crucial for all of us to stay healthy both mentally and physically as we navigate through our day-to-day lives. As business owners, CEOs, parents, entrepreneurs, our brains are constantly being challenged, and often work comes home with us in unintended ways. Read More>>

I have a few self-care go-to’s in my routine. First, I have time to relax to be fully efficient during the work day. Although owning a business is a 24/7 career, I like to turn off the computer by 8 pm at the latest and do my skincare routine. This four-step routine washes off the day and prepares me for my devotional and whatever show I am binging at the moment. Other than my skincare routine. I’d say prayer and meditation keep me sane. I have to have time to self-reflect on the day/week so I can better myself moving forward. The biggest self-care I have on my list is working out. Whether it’s a walk at noon with my dog or going to the local gym, I have to have time to get physical! Read More>>

The pandemic forced us all to a collective pause and this led me to prioritize self-care and mental health for the first time in my life. My essential self care is to embrace the magic of the beach to recharge my creative battery followed by discovering new mom and pop restaurants to inspire my entrepreneurial spirit (and of course good food!). Beach and good food make for a perfect day. Read More>>

Lately the focus is my inner core. I like to develop little key phrases; “No Cheat Codes” is something that i tell myself throughout the day. It helps me keep things in the proper perspective while also reinforcing that there’s no such thing as short cuts or hacks. It keeps me present, it keeps me in the “being” stage of the bigger goal that’s down the line. Read More>>

I dedicate at least one day per week (usually a Friday night) to not do anything social or work-related. I relax, meditate, eat my favorite snacks, watch my favorite shows, listen to music, take naps, and spend time alone. Read More>>

The meaning of self care has evolved so much for me overtime. For me, it used to mean taking vacations, pampering and way back when before I knew it was self care I used to write, mainly poetry. Don’t get me wrong, those things are definitely still on the list; lets be real! Meditation has taken my selfcare to levels I’ve never imagined. Read More>>

I’m so glad you asked this question. In my roles in the entertainment industry – Director, Producer, Writer – I use both sides of my brain, and most times simultaneously. It can be daunting and exhausting. I absolutely REQUIRE alone time, and time to nurture my other creative endeavors. Music, painting and other art, cooking, time with friends and family, travel, continuing education. Read More>>

I approach self-care at several levels. On the surface, I do the usual: journaling, yoga, running, meditation, spending time in nature, and preparing healthy plant-based meals. At a deeper level, though, my self-care also includes speaking up for myself and setting boundaries. Another essential component is self-compassion, i.e. not being too hard on myself when I make mistakes. Having a steady self-care routine has helped me maintain a sense of stability and power during my entrepreneurship journey, even through the turbulent years of the pandemic. Read More>>

2023 has rocked my world, for the best of reasons: we added a child to our family. With him being my 5th child, and my 3rd baby while working on my podcast and coaching, I thought I would be able to get into a rhythm quite quickly. Well, let’s just say I’ve been humbled. In working through this major adjustment, I felt like I could only give 10% to anything besides my baby and other children. The house fell to the wayside; email was moved far down the priority list; I delayed some programs I planned on launching. Read More>>

Self-care is my theme this month. As a small business owner, my goal is always to have balance in my personal life and in my work life. But sometimes, the lines cross, and work overtakes personal and takes up more room in my day-to-day life than I want it to. When this happens, I always look ahead and plan for a specific period of time to do a massive reset. September is that reset month for me. This month, while my husband is gone hunting, I am focusing on self-care and doing the things I love. Read More>>

I believe self-care is incredibly important for sustained impact! Working 24/7, saying yes to every social outing and work responsibility, and trying to stay fit and healthy inevitably leads to burnout.
I’ve learnt to prioritise rest, take on key tasks, and delegate what’s needed. Doing so has helped me make a bigger impact on myself. my team, and the people around me. Read More>>

Self-care is an instrumental element in my life. In this day and age, we are constantly on the “GO and it is easy to get bogged down in the hustle and bustle of life. It can be draining both mentally and physically and our body has a way to tell us that we need to slow down. I believe in the power of a positive mindset and self-care is an important component of that. In the past, I use to always put others first. I always strived to make sure that everyone and everything was taken care of. Read More>>

Taking care of myself is important to stay at my best. I make sure to do things like meditation and yoga to stay calm and focused. I also like to go for walks with my dog to keep my body and mind healthy. I definitely can’t forget about sleep, that is probably the most important. Self-care for me is also doing things like spending time with my family, fun DIY projects, and decluttering or cleaning my home. All of these activities make me better at what I do, more focused, creative, and able to handle challenges. Read More>>

The biggest thing I do for self care is journaling. I actually have a three part journaling practice. The first part is freewriting, where I write about whatever I’ve done that day and what I’m feeling. I often use this space to write out my anxieties, getting them out of my head so they don’t keep me up at night. This allows me to get better rest, which is essential for getting my work done the next day. Read More>>

Prioritizing my well-being and journalling is what I do for self-care. Regularly journaling my thoughts and emotions offers a space for reflection and self-expression. This practice helps me manage stress and gain insights into my feelings. Since I began journalling, I’ve witnessed improved focus, enhanced problem-solving abilities, and a more positive attitude. The time invested in self-care pays dividends in my overall effectiveness and the quality of my interactions and work output. Read More>>

First i would like to say each and every person needs to do self-care. Self-care is not selfish, for me self-care is another way of taking care of myself especially my health and well-being. One of my favorite thing to do during self-care is journaling, it helps me relax and reduce stress. Another Self-care routine i love is having a spa treatment at home. I make my own bath salts and face mask to help soothe my skin and recharge. My Self care routine has a great impact in my life, it helps me live well and improve my physical and mental health.
