Losing your job is painful and unfortunately the current economic conditions have led to many layoffs and firings in companies large and small. When budgets get tight in the public schools, the arts are often the first area to get cut. Some years ago In Minnesota, under the reign of the populist governor and ex-wrestler Jesse Ventura, I was teaching music at a Minneapolis Junior High while also working part-time as as a sound designer and composer for several local theater companies.
