Losing your job is painful and unfortunately the current economic conditions have led to many layoffs and firings in companies large and small. However, we’ve learned though thousands of interviews over the years that job loss is one of the most common catalysts for massive life improvement. I overcame being fired by putting in my head that “everything happens for a reason”, “its a lot of jobs out there, this is not the only job”. I have never kept a job over five months. I also have been fired twice on my first day of job. I always knew I had to work for myself. Jobs are not for me, even when I got the job I desired to have. I found myself jobless in the Spring of 2020 when nonessential businesses were closed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. I had spent over a decade as a hairstylist and my career felt like such a huge part of my identity. I had never considered the possibility of a different career path. overcoming being laid off was really hard for me. In 2015 I took a new job in social service and was inured on the job, and as a result of that the; company was shut down. While I was processing this, I had several surgeries, and many house of PT. I was lost, my purpose in life has always been to work with youth and that was all taken from me one day at work.
