Brigitta Dau on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Brigitta Dau and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Brigitta, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Many people are secretly struggling with the gap between what they SAY they want, and actually making the changes necessary for them to achieve their goals and desires. They feel called to grow, but their old patterns, unprocessed emotions, and lack of support keep them looping in the same stories. This often shows up as self-sabotage, procrastination, or chronic overwhelm. At its core, this is an energy and mindset mismatch – one of the big themes I explore with my coaching (both group and one-on-one), Reiki, and even in my upcoming book. When you create the right mindset, shift the energy beneath the goal, and have a regulated nervous system, the actions and forward movement finally start to flow.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My work is a blend of Life Coaching, Reiki Healing, and Creative Expression. I help people reconnect with their inner wisdom, overcome blocks, and create lives infused with purpose and creativity. I co-authored the soon-to-be-released “Landing on Your North Star – a guide to finding your life’s purpose,” and my first book is a guidebook/fusion of creative expression and life coaching – “Crafting a Better Life – Creative Approaches to Personal Growth”. I’m also a “serial crafter” (knitting being my main passion) as well as an Etsy shop owner.
I began my professional life as an actress, starring on a Canadian television series before relocating to Los Angeles at just 21. My success in the highly competitive film and TV industry was hard-won and “character building” (i.e. really hard!), teaching me all about resilience, emotional depth, and the power of creative identity and living with authenticity- skills I now bring to every client, retreat, and workshop I lead.
I offer many ways to work together: Group Coaching, 1:1 sessions, in-person retreats, as well as health and wellness conventions. I cohost the ongoing retreat series Crafting Your Magnetic Soul, where participants release internal blocks, tap into their intuition, and craft meaningful change through hands-on creativity, Reiki Healing, and other transformative modalities.
Regardless of how we work together, my message is clear with everyone:
Change is inevitable. Growth is a choice.
I invite people to choose growth—and create something beautiful in the process.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As I child, I believed there was something fundamentally wrong with me – like I was flawed, broken, or somehow “worthless” just being myself. Through the years of inner work, healing, and the very tools I now teach, I’ve learned that those were inherited stories, not truths. My authentic self isn’t a problem to be fixed; she is the source of my power.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
My defining wounds were shaped by years of disordered eating and a complicated relationship with alcohol – both of which were symptoms of isolation, shame, and self-abandonment due to a total disconnect with my true self and soul. Healing came through support, community, and learning to regulate and honor my energy. It’s the same integrative approach I now teach and the foundation of the work I do with people: reclaiming your voice and your self-trust, one aligned step at a time.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe in magic and synchronicity – the way life responds when our energy, intentions, and actions are in alignment. I can’t prove it in a scientific sense, but I see it every day in my coaching, the communities I teach in, and in my own life: when you shift your energy, the universe shifts with you.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People might misunderstand and think I still carry dreams of acting after I stepped away. In reality, leaving that world is what allowed me to build the work I’m most proud of – community, coaching, and collective momentum. The impact I create now is far greater than anything I could have done in front of a camera.
