Camille Bright shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Camille, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning more from my quiet time than an actual person. I’m learning from God in the presence of God. I’m learning how to slow down, be still, have balance, meditate, and affirm myself in ways I used to overlook. I’m realizing that the spaces we label as ‘boredom’ are actually where clarity shows up and where I reconnect with who I really am. That stillness has been essential for my growth as a woman, a performer, an actress, an artist, and a businesswoman. It’s teaching me that stepping back is just as powerful as pushing forward.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Camille Bright a multi passionate woman. I act, I sing, I dance, and I am the founder of PlainlyLaid, a luxury travel brand. I carry my last name with intention: ‘Bright’ reflects exactly who I am and what I bring into every space. I see myself as a light in the world, a woman who doesn’t just shine onstage or on film and TV but shines in purpose, using my gifts to uplift and inspire.
I’m stepping deeper into my music than ever before. I’m currently promoting my newest single, Picture Perfect, and preparing to release more music in 2026. Everything I create, whether it’s a song, a performance, TV/Film or products sold through my business, it’s rooted in authenticity, creativity, and purpose. I’m devoted to inspiring others through my craft, using my voice, dancing, acting and creativity to spread light and encourage other dreamers to trust their gifts and dream even bigger.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The moment I felt the most powerful was when I moved to New York City straight out of high school to attend acting school and pursue my dreams. My parents were encouraging, but not everyone in my family believed a career in the arts was realistic for me. So I had to trust myself and have complete faith in God to pave the way.
Moving to New York, supporting myself, going to school, working, and ultimately graduating showed me what I was truly capable of. I proved to myself, and eventually to my family that I could succeed on my own terms. Watching them become believers because I believed in myself was incredibly empowering. Honestly, any time I accomplish something I set out to do, it reminds me of my strength. That moment, though, was the first time I truly felt Powerful.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have definitely been moments when I wanted to give up. The arts can be unpredictable, and when things get inconsistent, I sometimes wonder why I didn’t choose a more stable path. But the second I even entertain that thought, I feel a heaviness, because I know the gifts God gave me are meant to be used.
I don’t believe everyone shares the same dreams, but I believe deeply in mine to stay creative, to use my voice, my acting, my singing, and my dancing to their fullest. The journey comes with ups and downs, but I’ve learned that the only way to reach the next level is to keep going. Whenever things get hard, I go back to my why: God gave me a gift, and it’s my responsibility to honor it.
The moments I feel like giving up actually push me to work harder. They remind me that perseverance is the real secret. I’m proud of myself for continuing, even when it’s tough. One thing I know for sure about me, I will Never give up and I want to encourage anyone who is thinking about giving up to just keep going just to see what might happen…
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that the things that matter most to me are family, friendship, and creativity. I think they’d say that because those are the areas where I naturally pour the most of myself. I spend a lot of intentional time with my family and really try to be present for the big and small moments. And with my friends, I’m definitely the “fun friend” who shows up, makes everyone laugh, and somehow slips into giving advice without even meaning to.
They actually nicknamed me “Nana,” and I’ve fully embraced it, even though I’m one of the youngest in the group. I think they call me that because being around me feels warm, cozy, and nurturing. I love cooking for the people I care about, I love a good life hack, and I’m usually the person folks come to when they need perspective or a little wisdom that sounds like it came straight from their grandmother.
And they’d absolutely say that creativity matters to me. I’m always coming up with ideas or diving into another project in the creative space. It’s just a huge part of who I am and how I move through the world.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me when I’m gone is that I truly lived up to my last name, “Bright.” That I was a bright light in their lives. I hope people say that I made them feel seen, that being around me helped them believe in themselves a little more, and that my presence gave them joy. Whether that came through my music, my dancing, acting, my business, a prayer, a kind word, or just my energy, I want my spirit to speak for itself.
More than anything, I want to leave behind a feeling. I hope people remember me as someone whose energy shaped their hearts in a positive way. Someone who was fun, kind, joyful, purposeful, and a living example of God’s goodness and grace.
