Candace “Ms. Trill” Alston of Columbia on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Candace “Ms. Trill” Alston . Check out our conversation below.

Hi Candace “Ms. Trill” , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is the most important characteristic to me because who you are when no one is looking. IS WHO YOU ARE!!! When someone shows you who they are believe them.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Candace Alston also known as Ms. Trill; I am a devoted and dedicated wife, mother and the owner of Clean Freaks Cleaning Service LLC and Trillsational Aromas. I was a committed educator for 16 years serving as a life coach to hundreds of school-age children.
My students nick named me “Trill” meaning genuine and real. I have involuntarily made my own lane in the music industry with a soulful sound. My music is real and raw like Mary J, mixed with a Missy Elliot flow, a Jasmine Sullivan vibe and a Shug Avery Soul!
My artistry includes being an independent recording artist promoting her latest singles “Sip”, “Love Cry”, “I Will”, “Jeopardy”, “Pieces”, and “It’s Something”. “Sip” is currently on all digital platforms and has can also be heard on the Geechee One Films’ “Treasure Box”. My single, “I Will” was used in the film titled “Suga Babies” and has also started gaining radio play in Florida on 106.1 FM.
I have worked alongside DrumLordz Media Group assisting with videography, photography and cinematography with many artists and musicians; as well as a 1017 Brick Squad intern during their reconstruction period. I also known for my work on “Toxic Alien Zombie Babes from Outer Space”, “Tiffany the Doll” the Feature Film (2022) and “Pieces” (2022). I also produced and hosted “TLC Kwalified Broadcasting “on iHeart Radio.
My album “Acts 8:27 vs. Ms. Trill” was released in April 2022, under Out Tha Hole Entertainment LLC. My life mission is to make people feel good through; photography, acts of kindness, music, art and words of inspiration. I am excited to be able to be inspirational through my creative perspective. I live by the words of Dr. Maya Angelo, “People will forget what you said but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has molded me is indeed the relationship I had with my grandparents. I always wanted them to be pleased with my actions and not embarrassed by them. I made plenty mistakes in my youth, and they accepted my mistakes, and the love never swayed. they had always been my motivation. I miss them both dearly and Ill forever honor them with my actions,

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stop hiding my pain and using it as power when I chose me. Not friend family my children. I chose myself, my peace and my happiness for once. I left toxic relationships and I began to put my pain on paper and from there it turned into music. My pain was relatable and valid. People understood it. My pain allowed me to travel and express myself in many states. My pain allowed my songs to be featured on Movies like “Pieces”, and “Sinful” (airing on Tubi, Amazon Prime and other major platforms. People can hear me all over the world and have reached out with encouragement. I never thought I would be considered myself an actress or artist in the music industry. I was even blessed to be on the set at Tyler Perry’s studios. The experiences I have had and the people I have meet has been life changing. I came out of my shell and faced my fears with my pain, and I don’t have any regrets,

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family. I learned over the years blood doesn’t make you family. Time, effort, love, loyalty, forgiveness, and commitment makes you family. I love my family. They know exactly who they are.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If you knew you had 10 years left, what I would stop doing immediately is Stressing over small thing and the Things I cannot change. I would give more because I can’t take it with me. I wouldn’t be so tough on myself. I would love harder because one day that will be all left to the memory.
