We’re looking forward to introducing you to Chef Christopher Moore. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Christopher , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m walking a path—one I’ve built through discipline, faith, and purpose. My journey hasn’t always been straight, but every step has been intentional. Even the setbacks taught me something that moved me forward. I don’t wander. I study my route, I adjust when necessary, and I remain committed to the destination.
My path has led me from Detroit kitchens to competing on national television, to building a brand that’s now on shelves in Walmart and Kroger. None of that happened by accident. It happened because I refused to drift. I chose direction over distraction, purpose over comfort.
So yes—I’m walking a path. And I’m still paving it every day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Chef Christopher Moore, founder of Chef Flavas—a brand that started in a small Detroit apartment kitchen and has grown into a restaurant, a CPG company, and now a national movement. What makes our brand unique is our authenticity. Everything we create—from our signature Spinach Artichoke Dip now sold in Walmart and Kroger, to our restaurant meals, to our upcoming products—is rooted in real flavor, real culture, and real storytelling.
I’m a chef, an entrepreneur, and a creator who believes food should feel like home. My journey took me from Detroit to culinary school, to cooking on Food Network’s Chopped, to serving high-profile clients, to now building a brand that’s touching communities across the country.
Today, Chef Flavas is expanding into new states, launching a children’s coloring book on Amazon, opening a new restaurant downtown Memphis, and inspiring the next generation of creators and entrepreneurs. Everything I do is about purpose, discipline, and giving people a taste of something real.”
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that changed my entire perspective was when I realized that nobody was coming to save me—success was my responsibility. I was working long hours, barely sleeping, trying to build Chef Flavas from the ground up while still dealing with real-life obstacles. There was a day I looked around and understood that every result in my life would come from the decisions I made, the discipline I gave, and the sacrifices I was willing to endure.
That clarity shifted everything. It made me see the world differently—less about waiting for opportunities and more about creating them. It’s the mindset that took me from cooking in Detroit kitchens to competing on Food Network, to walking into Walmart and Kroger and seeing a product my wife and I created sitting on the shelves.
That moment taught me that the world doesn’t reward talent alone—it rewards consistency, resilience, and the people who refuse to quit. That realization has shaped every move I’ve made since
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. There were moments—more than people would ever imagine—when quitting felt easier. Times when deals fell through, money was tight, payments were delayed, and I was carrying the weight of a whole brand, a whole vision, on my shoulders. There were nights I questioned if all the sacrifice was worth it.
But every time I got close to giving up, something reminded me why I started. Sometimes it was my wife telling me she believed in me. Sometimes it was a customer telling me Chef Flavas reminded them of home. Sometimes it was just that quiet voice in my spirit saying, ‘You’re built for this.’
What kept me going was knowing that the dream wasn’t just mine—it was attached to my family, my community, and everyone watching who needed to see someone make it. I realized that giving up wasn’t an option, because the purpose was bigger than the pressure.
So yes, I had moments where I almost broke… but every one of those moments became the reason I pushed even harder.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
One of the biggest truths I live by—but rarely say out loud—is that consistency beats everything. Talent matters, passion matters, but consistency is what separates dreams from reality. It’s a truth that shows up in my life every day, from the kitchen to business to my family.
Another truth is that faith and discipline walk hand in hand. I believe in God, but I also believe God expects me to do my part—show up, work, sacrifice, and trust the process even when I can’t see the full picture. That mindset carried me from Detroit kitchens to national retail shelves.
And finally, I believe purpose is bigger than pressure. When you understand why you’re doing something, the challenges don’t disappear, but they no longer have the power to stop you. That’s how I’ve kept going through setbacks, delays, and tough seasons.
These truths shape every decision I make, even if I don’t talk about them often. They’ve built the foundation of who I am as a man, a chef, and the leader of the Chef Flavas brand.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I lived with purpose and left more hope than I found. I want my story to be about a man who didn’t come from perfect circumstances, but still built something meaningful through discipline, faith, and relentless hard work.
I want people to say I was a man who showed up for his family, loved his wife deeply, and used his gifts to open doors for others. That Chef Flavas wasn’t just a brand—it was a reminder that your dream is valid, no matter where you start.
I hope they say I was a builder. A giver. Someone who took the lessons from Detroit kitchens, from setbacks, from long nights, and turned them into opportunities for a whole community.
And most of all, I hope people say that I was proof that you can create something out of nothing, that you can rise without forgetting where you came from, and that you can change the world simply by showing up with love, integrity, and consistent effort.
