Cheryl Gross shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Cheryl, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m still chasing my dreams. The only way I would stop is if my existence ceased to exist.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I am an illustrator, painter, writer and motion graphic artist living and working in the New York/New Jersey area. I am a professor at Pratt Institute, where I have been teaching for nearly 30 years.
I love the interaction with my students. They keep me current and never cease to amaze.
I am currently working on an accordion book project that involves mythology past and present.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My father had a very strong work ethic. My grandmother had many different modes of employment, most self driven. I would say most of my role models were. entrepreneurs.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Hang in there. Your time will come.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Aliens
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m doing what I was born to do. It’s a calling.
