We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ciara Sportstalkwithcee Monroe. Check out our conversation below.

Ciara Sportstalkwithcee, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I am really proud that sportstalkwithcee just celebrated 5 years! I honestly never thought that I would be here, chasing my dreams and living proof that dreams do come true.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Ciara with Sportstalkwithcee, this a platform where you can come tell your journey through cee. On the podcast you can be free, and you can be you. I started this platform because all basketball stories can be told. What makes this platform special is the vibes that are brought, the laughs that are shared and a time will always be had. Whether you’re an athlete, coach, ref, media host, editor, fan or someone who likes to talk hoops sportstalkwithcee is where you want to be.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
This platform has story never stop being you. Some may not believe that when it comes to covering a game, interviewing a guest I am very shy. If you know me that is something you will find hard because I am full of life. I get shy nervous, scared because I love what I do but I also get so excited. Along the years I came to see is just do you and everything else will follow. You learn so much about yourself when your tested to grow, get out your comfort zone and try new things. You really see and feel when you put the work through the good times, struggles, doubts, successes that it is all is worth it.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I never thought that I would see this time, but I did. After year 3, a lot of my interviewees would cancel and not reschedule. I saw myself questioning everything because why does no one want to be on the pod. I was not interested in posting content, following news, wanting to cover games, watch games I was done. One day while in the gym someone came up to me and asked if I was still doing my podcast and I said yes, but I knew that was not accurate, that night I listened to the very first episode I recorded and reflected how far I came and why I started the platform to begin with. I had to get back to just wanting to get back to cee and sportalkwithcee and coming to tell your journey through cee. In the moment I knew that I did not care if I had one listen, one view, one like, one share I was still making a difference to someone who may have the same story.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see is what you get. Being authnetic, being you, being real is what people want to see. When you are you, others are able to see your strength, your weakness, your growth, your talent and just you. I have to be Ciara “cee” because its real and raw, From the pod, to covering a game, social media, making content I am my silly, loud, endergonic self. At games i am dancing, cheering. On the pod probably hear me in deep thought and it’s really the funniest thing. I love being me and I love covering women’s sports! I hope you all tune in !

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am doing exactly what I am supposed to do! I smile most when sports are involved. I am at peace when I am covering a game. I knew that this is where I belong because even on a rough day talking basketball brings me back to my happy place. I just feel like I vibe, I am in a zone and truly cannot be stop! I want to inspire the younger generation that you can look like me, sound like me with my thick accent but you can do what your dream and more.
