We’re looking forward to introducing you to Danyelle Gamch. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Danyelle, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think a lot of people secretly struggle asking for help. I know this is something that I struggle with myself. I am the eldest daughter and a single mother I sometimes feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. I had my daughter when I was in high school because of this I felt like I had a lot to prove to myself and everyone around me. Call it pride but asking for help made me feel like I was failing. As I’ve gotten older I realize it takes a village to get through life! It’s so important to be surrounded by people that you can lean on. Asking for help can be scary, but once youre past that -it’s a beautiful thing to be able to be supported by people in your life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Danyelle Gamch, and for nearly a decade, I’ve cultivated a space of style and connection in my private Bay Area studio. As a Hair and Bridal stylist, I’ve dedicated myself to the art of enhancing everybody’s natural beauty through low-maintenance color and crafting boho-inspired bridal hairstyles. My journey is fueled by my passion for empowering individuals to embrace their most beautiful and authentic selves, and I find so much joy in the meaningful relationships built behind the chair.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling truly powerful was becoming a mother as a teenager. At 17, I felt invincible, stepping into parenthood without fear. My daughter became the center of my world, and I selflessly dedicated my teenage years to being the best mom I could be, building a future for both of us. I approached this journey with so much honor and pride, feeling like I was defying expectations and proving to myself and others that I was ready to embrace this role, no matter my age.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Immediately after high school, I pursued my passion and enrolled in beauty school to obtain my cosmetology license. My daughter was a year old when I started, and shortly after graduating, my son was on the way. I knew it would require a lot for me to build a clientele, I made the difficult decision to put my career on hold. For six years, the dream of working behind the chair felt distant and unattainable. Without guidance in the industry, it seemed as if my education had been for nothing, as I worked an office job to support my family. As I got comfortable in my job i honestly lost the desire to go towards what I was most passionate about.
Then, a heart to heart conversation with a friend sparked a turning point for me. They questioned why I wasn’t using my cosmetology license, knowing my deep passion for being a hair stylist. I always had excuses, reasons why it wouldn’t work out. One day, I sat with myself, feeling like I had no sense of direction in my career, wondering how I would ever provide for my family on my own. It was then that it hit me: everything would fall into place once I started investing in myself and what made me happy.
.
I took a leap of faith and I applied for a salon job that offered an hourly wage. I stayed there for a year, learning from the senior stylist and building my career, from that point forward, I never looked back. This decision marked the beginning of my journey, proving that investing in my passion was so important to both personal and my professional success! They say comfort kills dreams. Always go after what feels good in your heart and soul!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I think everyone I meet knows the real me. I never pretend to be something that I’m not.
I believe in living authentically, and my faith is a guiding force in everything I do. God first always. I’m passionate about creating genuine connections with people, and I take pride in holding space for others to share their experiences openly and without judgment. I bring my best self to every situation, and I’m committed to being a hard worker, someone you can always rely on. Honesty and integrity aren’t just words to me; they’re the foundation of how I live my life.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
The demands of being a single parent and running my own business mean I’m almost always in motion, constantly juggling responsibilities. The mental load can be heavy, I often find myself overthinking making sure I don’t forget anything. But there’s a powerful sense of peace that comes over me when I carve out time for silence. In those moments of stillness, when I can hear my own thoughts without the noise of the world, I’m able to fully embrace gratitude for what I have. It’s my anchor in the storm and brings me the most clarity and peace. Silent car rides home after a busy work day is my solitude
