We recently had the chance to connect with Darrell Lepine and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Darrell, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I’ve only ever felt “loved” by my mother. Everyone who has ever said they “loved” me, chose their-self. Love is void of condition, unconditional if you will. That means no matter the situation, no matter what I do to them, no matter how they feel in the moment or that day, they chose me, and that’s only ever happened with my Mother. Do I believe I deserve that love? No, I don’t think anybody deserves anything because nobody owes anyone else anything. I appreciate it though! I Love you Mom <3
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello Everyone, I am FreeTheGod – Christian, Father, Musical Artist, Manager, Author, Day-Trader, A Man who is Faithful over the many. I’m what you call a Jack of all trades. I work as the Head of Operations for ONErpm handling Priority Client approvals and more for the U.S and Caribbean Markets. I also head “The Main Characters” which is an Indie label I started to help my friends, family and all those who need it really. My focus is Artist development and after that getting everyone in the place they need to be. I myself am working on a bunch of bunch of singles to soon drop in 2026 but in the meantime in pushing my latest release “facecard.”
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God. Growing up I didn’t really know him tbh! I was void of what it meant to even have faith in him. I used to watch my friends come from church on Sunday’s and have big dinners with Gospel music playing and I had a yearning to be a part of it. As I grew older i denounced those feelings for a long time, pretending there was no God. Today I am a man of God! Full faith in his power! I used to see myself as someone who can do all things by myself, no help needed, people were just a distraction and a disappointment. I was wrong! God showed me I can do all things through Christ. He showed me that I don’t have to do it alone, and that there will be people he sends along the way to assist me in my journey to the top. That I shouldn’t take those people and those moments for granted! Everyday I pray to the most high and thank him for where I am now.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly everyday! I almost give up every single day but I find a reason to keep on pushing. I don’t really let anyone see me down, I say I am alright even when I’m not. I have children and I couldn’t imagine them seeing their superhero look weak. I know it’s not the healthiest thing but I’m working through it, but everyday I consider giving up but keep on pushing through regardless.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, The public version of me is the private version of me. I don’t change based on my surroundings, I change my surroundings! When you see me, meet me and get to know me, You’ll understand that I shine a light so bright it blinds the non believers.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What false labels are you still carrying?
The label of being ok. It’s ok to not be ok and I still haven’t come to terms with that. When all is said and done I will be able to help those who also struggle with that label. Currently its something I haven’t torn off myself yet though.
