Extension I made is fslightbox for block editor. Block editor is quite an old editor and not as responsive as guttenberg editor. But many people still use it. That’s why I integrated fslightbox into the block editor so that it would be responsive and that all images would be the same size.

It is easy to use:

1. click on “Add Media” button above the block editor.
2. choose “create gallery”.
3. Select the images you want and click on “Create a new gallery”.
4. then on the right side below “GALLERY SETTINGS” choose how many “columns ” you want to have AND choose “Size”.
5. “Link to” must be “Media File”.

The number of images in one row does not have to be the same as the number of images in the gallery. If you place a large number of images in for example, 6 rows, the images will be small, but if you click or tap the image, the image will become large. And you can move from left to right.

Best way to display images in gallery (best practice):

1,2 columns = use size: Large
3,4 columns = use size: Medium
5+ columns = use size: Thumbnail

These are some recommended values that may vary with image quality. As you can see, the more images in one column, the lower image resolution we use. Which means that there is no need to load the full resolution of the image if we have more images in one column. However, the full size of the image will load after the user clicks on the image.

Note: The above values do not have to be strictly followed. It is important that the image when it is small does not look blurry.

If the images are blurry before they are clicked, inside “GALLERY SETTINGS” on the left side, change the size instead of “thumbnail” to “large”.  The gallery is completely responsive and here is a short video of how it works!

 

Here is the h tags which will be arranged and between each h tag there will be dummy text to make the space between the paragraph and the h tag clearer.
