Dr. Amrit Hansra & Dr. Rajvir Shahi’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Dr. Amrit Hansra & Dr. Rajvir Shahi and have shared our conversation below.

Amrit & Rajvir, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, one of the things bringing us the most joy has been completing our short film *Bhangra Baby*, which is now making its way through the festival circuit. Seeing it on the big screen for the first time was such a surreal and joyful moment—we couldn’t stop smiling. We had the privilege of working with an unbelievable cast and crew who poured their hearts into bringing this story to life. This project was especially meaningful for us because it was the first one we started after realizing that life doesn’t have to be only medicine—you can explore so many parts of yourself and your passions. It reminded us how fulfilling it is to create something that combines our skills, our heritage, and our imagination.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As kids, we both grew up believing we had to choose just one thing to become when we got older—one career, one identity, one narrow lane to stay in. We each felt we had to quiet certain parts of ourselves, whether it was our creative side, our curiosity, or the dreams that didn’t fit neatly into a single box. Over time, and especially through the winding paths that led us to medicine, filmmaking, and parenthood, we realized how untrue that belief was. You don’t have to pick one version of yourself and stick to it forever. A fulfilled life can hold multiple passions, multiple careers, and multiple evolving identities. Embracing all those layers has not only made us happier, but it has allowed us to create work—and a family life—that feels authentically our own.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If we could say one kind thing to our younger selves, it would be: *Be gentle with yourself, and don’t dim who you are to fit anyone else’s expectations.* You don’t need to apologize for your curiosity, your creativity, or the way you see the world—those parts of you are your superpowers. You are amazing exactly as you are, and life will open up beautifully the moment you allow yourself to step fully into your own skin.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project we’re committed to—no matter how long it takes—is bringing our children’s animated health and wellness series to life. We’re deeply passionate about creating a show that empowers kids to understand their minds and bodies, build confidence, and feel capable of taking charge of their well-being. As doctors, filmmakers, and parents, we see firsthand how much impact positive, accessible guidance can have on a child’s sense of self. We truly believe this series can help the next generation grow up feeling informed, brave, and proud of who they are. No matter how many years it takes or how winding the journey becomes, we won’t stop until this content is out in the world for kids everywhere.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
We feel most at peace in the moments when we’re fully present with our kids—when the phones are down, the to-do lists fade, and we’re just living inside the joy of that exact moment. Whether we’re reading together, cooking as a family, or simply watching them discover something new, those are the times when everything feels calm and grounded. Being truly present reminds us of what matters most, and it brings a kind of peace that no accomplishment or milestone ever could.
