Dynez Dennis of Washington, DC on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dynez Dennis . Check out our conversation below.

Hi Dynez , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m really proud of, even though it’s kinda behind the scenes, is my second album! I see all my songs as my legacy, and my albums are like my babies. The first one, “Tru Story,” didn’t really turn out exactly how I wanted. But this time, with “Still Tru,” I’m totally in control! It’s just me, no managers or drama, and I’m so proud of how much I’ve grown as an artist this time around.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I AM Dynez Dennis. I am a multi genre recording artist and the founder of DYNEZVille Music Group. I started my music career in my hometown, where I fell in love with telling stories through music. I’ve been blessed in time to be able to share my gift with known popular recording acts in the mid 2000’s. In 2016, I released my first independent pop album, “Tru Story,” which was super raw and emotional, reflecting everything I went through during a really tough time. Now, it’s 2025, and I’m getting ready to release my second album, “Still Tru”

With the second album the songs, the stories are Still Tru! Music is my legacy, you know? I don’t have children, but my recordings are my babies, and this second one feels like watching my second child come into the world. “Still Tru” is dives into my growth as an artist, and as a person, and I’m so proud of how it captures my continued journey in this thing called, life.

Through DYNEZVille Music Group, I’m building something that not only amplifies my voice but also helps other artists share their stories without holding back. It’s about empowering them to be themselves and tell their truths.
Its my sincerest hope that I am able to carry on the legacy of music within my family and go even deeper with helping others in pursuit of telling their stories.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
What relationship has shaped me most in how I see myself is my mother. My amazing, beautiful, talented mother. She conditioned me for this! She taught me the work ethics and values I hold to this day in honoring my gifts, perfecting my craft, and remaining humble throughout all my achievements,

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
As a child there were many challenges that I faced. Challenges with just wanting to be me but pressures put on me to be someone else. In those moments of sadness it was always my prayers and the music that would get me through. The voice of greats like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Faith Evans, and Dorinda Clark Cole specifically. The music and the words would always put me in a place of peace in the midst of calamity. I still find that peace from that era of my life whenever I listen to 90’s music. It reminds me of how far I’ve come and makes me smile to know where I’m going!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I really admire Cardi B! I admire her freedom and her authenticity so much! Often times the industry can try to make you perform and be the character. When I see her, I see her and it’s beautiful to see. So many others try to be something they are not and in my opinion it creates a disconnect. So I always show me everywhere I show up; and someone of her stature inspires me, and lets me know that,”hey you can do this, and you can be yourself while you’re doing it”!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply is that we are only here for a moment. Life is a beautiful thing but its not an everlasting. Knowing this I try to live my best life everyday. I treat people kindly, I show respect, and I give thanks for all thanks. When we leave here we have our name, a start date, a dash, and an end date. So what do you want that “-” to say about you? I’m not perfect, but I am love and I walk and lead with that with everything I do!
