When I reached my second year (1982) at the University of Florida campus in an immense competition with 35,000 other students seeking their future, I took notice of my love for recognizing a design need, and then sketching ideas for the solution, solving problems. The 80’s were just getting started, imagination was welcomed, never in my wildest dreams did I think that in 10 years the world would go retro in every way imaginable for the next 33 years. It wasn’t until I hit 40 that I found my purpose, or perhaps, better said- it found me! Funny how that seems to be the case for some. I knew from a very young age that true happiness comes from giving of yourself, not your things, but of your heart. A type of giving that really makes a difference in a person’s life or just even turning a bad day into a beautiful one for a moment. Read more>>

I think my business mission statement of supporting and promoting female contemporary artists and designers took a few years of running Mojave Art to be revealed to me. Working in the high end furniture business, it was surprising how many iconic designs were actually created by a women on the design team, although the chief architect or designer would get the credit for it’s creation.  Read more>>

I found my purpose while finding the way back to myself. For so long I felt lost in my own mind, lost in this ever-moving life. Who am I? What do I want? I could either lean on what others wanted of me, expected me to do…or I could choose to look within (definitely the scarier option when you’ve spent your life as a people-pleaser).  Read more>>

I have always loved baking. I started baking as a young girl with my sisters, and I started my first business during the summers as a teenager. I thought at the time that I would continue on the path to becoming a pastry chef. However, I majored in English and Spanish in college and started writing for a magazine after I graduated. I felt like I should be doing something in an office. I went on to try several different jobs, from communications director to talent assistant, but the draw to baking was always there. Read more>>

I found my purpose by starting a business. The best way I could start to explain the previous statement is to tell you how this business, Kate and Mae, came to be. In July 2020, I craved to start a business. It was laid out in my heart, always something I was thinking about. I never thought about starting a business growing up, I grew up wanting a career in something “stable”. I was never a risk taker, but after the world was flipped upside down I started to live my life in a constant state of seeking discomfort. Read more>>

I’ve wanted to be an actor since I was a little girl. My first role on stage was playing the Hawaiian in my 1st grade production of “It’s a Small World After All”! My teacher made me a little hula skirt out of green fabric and I loved it so much! I began to pursue acting again as an adult and had the absolute pleasure of doing stage plays in community theater. I thrived on stage! Read more>>

I mostly discovered my purpose towards the tail end of an Independent Study in Printmaking at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. There were no credits involved, however, I was entertaining the idea of building my portfolio and applying to a master’s program. I was working in a restaurant at the time and was teaching art part-time in between the days and nights of waiting tables and bartending (I had to wash dishes first before moving up the ladder!) Talk about a humbling experience! I actually cooked for a bit as well (written in my 8th grade yearbook is that my dream job was a chef on a cruise boat.) Read more>>

My parents and family taught me the value of serving and giving back to the community. Growing up in Mexico, I remember my family serving anyone that needed help with anything at all, and this was a valuable lesson that instilled in me the desire to serve, inform, educate, inspire and empower people from all walks of life to believe in themselves and reach their full potential. For most of my life, I never thought I really had a “purpose.” I made the “smart” decisions for where to go to school, what to study, what jobs to take, but the decisions were logical and rarely emotional or purpose-driven. For me, that changed when my mom passed away. My mom had also spent her life making the smart decisions, especially after my dad died shortly before my birth. Read more>>

From a young age, I’ve always liked to write, journal and draw, but remembering when I put a purpose behind calligraphy was simple. My purpose has always been to create things that bring other’s joy. As early as I can remember, I was planning parties, writing stories and crafting projects to foster delight in the community around me. I love researching and investigating new ideas and researching, specifically, new flavors and recipes to add to the Pikes Peak Lemonade menu. The greatest reward is an excited response on our products or a positive reaction on a visit to our storefront. It warms my heart to spread the joy to others. Read more>>

When it came to discovering my purpose, my life experiences gradually steered me in that direction. I don’t believe in coincidences. To me, everything happens for a reason whether good or bad, but there is something to learn from it. As I look back at my life, every challenge I went through, only gave me more endurance and wisdom for the next. Purpose is described as the reason for which something exists. Read more>>

At age 55, I decided I wanted to get into the best shape of my life. Once I looked into it, I realized what a strict regiment it entailed…. A strict, clean diet,, no sugar, no alcohol, consistent weight lifting 5/6 days a week along with daily cardio.. I was working at a wine and chocolate shop at the time and realized this would interfere with my job so I decided not to pursue it at that time. Read more>>

As a child, and years after, I often wondered, “What is my purpose in life?” As I grew, explored, and experienced life I realized that there is no purpose, no one purpose for sure. Everything we do or say has influence to the universe. When we shift, put forth action, or even just be (even if just internally), this has influence to others. Read more>>

I am The Accidental Weaver. I began to know my purpose as a small child. I didn’t know it then but in hindsight it becomes clear. I have always loved to create – primarily using yarn, thread, and cloth. I watched the women in my family make things – it was as natural as breathing. I had to do it too. I begged my mother, my aunts, and my grandmother to teach me how to knit, By age 4, I was knitting a scarf for my doll.  Read more>>

I was blessed to enjoy a 20+ year career in beauty and skincare with some of the most powerful Fortune 500 companies in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed the things I learned, the relationships I fostered and the brands I launched. “Sometimes, in order to find your purpose, you have to lost it first.” That’s a quote I wrote back in 2016 when I realized there was much more to life than chasing the corporate ladder and a paycheck. I had been in my corporate job for 20 years, but at that season in my life I was looking for something that was more fulfilling in my life. I had taken myself as far as I could go in my corporate role and wanted to expand my reach and grow in a different capacity of my leadership. Read more>>

I believe that we are all brought into this life, knowing our purpose. As infants we do not question our worthiness for unconditional love, and we do not inhibit ourselves from giving it. We know that we are deserving of anything we need, all we have to do is simply ask for it. As an older child, I struggled with the phenomenon of being told and believing that I was not deserving of unconditional love. Read more>>

It was a gradual process. I found my purpose by further exploring my interests. My love for art & entertainment is the one thing that has been constant throughout my life. I tried out theatre arts, dance, modeling and a few other things before becoming a DJ. Also I love music, so DJing is something I always enjoy doing. Read more>>

I sat with myself. No music. No Phone. and asked “Who are you”. (mind you, it was something that prompted this conversation) and for the first time in my life, I picked my head up and saw everything that I accomplished and everything I had been working to accomplish and said “This is it, nothing that’s been done before this moment matters. All that matters is this moment of realization – now keep going. Read more>>

I found my purpose in my pain. It was the pain of failing over and over again that caused me to reevaluate my life and the examples that I set for my children. I had to dig deep and realize that I was worthy of succeeding in life just as much as anyone else. It was the drive to stand up in the pits of failure; not lay down and die with purpose in me that motivated me. I had to keep going because succeeding in the face of failure and adversity has the power to uplift someone else. Read more>>

For Starters I have always believed in doing what makes you happy, and for the most part of my life since childhood that happiness was playing drums and being a musician. I knew I wanted to be a drummer since I was 5. I couldn’t wait to get out of school because in my head school wasn’t going to attribute much to the skills I was wanting to acquire. I was a kid and at that time that was my beliefs, but I knew what I wanted to do. I never strayed from my course which many do through time. Read more>>

I don’t know if we only have one purpose in life, or maybe it’s just better defined by who we are rather than what we do. I think we have ideas for ourselves early on about what we want to do, who we want to marry, where we want to live, all the things we dream of doing, but as time passes, we outgrow these boxes that we often try to fit ourselves in.
