Fox Jones on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Fox Jones shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Fox, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
As soon as I wake up, I give thanks to God and the ancestors for letting me see another day. Then, I do a workout and some meditation. After getting ready, I make a beeline to the coffee maker because coffee is nectar from the gods. While I sip my coffee, I listen to one of my playlists to get my mind right to tackle the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a veteran, mother, and poet. Originating from Edenton, North Carolina, my lifelong dream of becoming a writer has materialized in the form of “When The Tiger Lily Blooms.” Drawing inspiration from my love for writing since elementary school, my debut novel showcases my ability to navigate the complexities of love, mystery, and betrayal.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandmothers and my parents taught me the most. My grandmothers taught me about working hard and never settle. They also taught me not to let people tell me who I am. My parents taught me to seize and never turn down opportunities to learn and grow.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are more capable than you will ever know. So keep climbing. You’ll never get to see and enjoy the view unless you go to the top.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
That they are the smartest people in the room. Sometimes, the best ideas and solutions come from the most unlikely of places. Never discount someone just because you feel they’re not as smart as you.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will remember me as an introverted genuine soul who wasn’t afraid to stand up for the right things, even when I was pushed out of my comfort zone.
