Burning out is one of the primary risks you face as you work towards your goals and so focusing on self-care as a way to minimize the impact of burnout is one of the best investments you can make.

In the Intimacy field we talk a lot about closure. And I think this is such an important skill that I remind performers to practice, but that I also need to practice myself.
When I engage in closure, I am able to separate myself from my work. This lets me be a more focused choreographer in the room, as well as a more present me at home.
Closure for me usually involves music- I have a specific playlist I use. I also have a couple of colleagues I can call to talk things through with if it has been a particularly weird day! In both practices, I give myself TIME to process the day and to make the separation of “work me” and “life me.” Read more>>

Self-care is such an important part of living a meaningful life, yet I find it is often misunderstood.
As a life coach, self-care comes up a lot. People often ask me for advice on how to practice self-care, what techniques are best, and how I would teach someone to include more self-care in their life.

Self care is so important as a teen in the entertainment industry. It doesn’t have to be having a whole spa day or spending a ton at the mall, (although that’s fun too) self care for me can be as simple as wearing my favorite shirt or making a cup of hot chocolate. Setting boundaries between my personal life and my work life is also key because I don’t want to get caught up in work. I’m able to focus on the script and be engaged with my scene partners more when I have had time to rejuvenate myself. Read more>>

For self-care, I prioritize practices that help me stay grounded and connected, like spending time in nature, engaging in ceremony or ritual, and using tools like Reiki and sound baths. These practices not only recharge my energy but also deepen my sense of clarity and purpose.
I also integrate grounding techniques into my daily life, like using grounding mats, which help reduce stress and keep me focused. This dedication to self-care has significantly improved my effectiveness by enhancing my ability to stay present and make thoughtful decisions for my business and community. Read more>>
