Overcoming imposter syndrome as a videographer and photographer has definitely been a journey for me. I do my best to acknowledge my achievements, commit to continuous learning, seek support from peers and mentors, set realistic goals, and remind myself that mistakes are part of growth. I also try and practice self-compassion and remind myself that there will always be people better at my craft than I am. But my purpose in creating isn’t to be the best, it’s just to create as authentically as I know how. Read more>>

I feel like my journey with imposter syndrome is never ending. As an artist I feel like you will always question yourself and have those thoughts in your head that you’re not good enough. This year at times I struggled with my imposter syndrome. I got into a cycle of never been able to finish any music because I always thought something could be better. Read more>>

To be honest, I don’t think any entrepreneur wholly overcomes imposter syndrome. It is more of a daily process of believing in yourself and trusting that you are valuable to others. However, now that I have over five years of shooting weddings under my belt, I would say my biggest tip for shutting down the feelings of imposter syndrome is consuming less of other photographers work online and on social media. I believe that I always had some form of imposter syndrome in certain areas of my life due to me always wanting to achieve a certain level of perfection, but with my business, the level of self-doubt was even higher. I was accustomed to accomplishing my goals within my given deadlines and my business posed so many challenges and a constant need to change plans. Before becoming an entrepreneur, I was interested in working in marketing for a company; however, after countless interviews with no success of a job offer there was no other choice for me but to start my own business. I believe that the imposter syndrome is something that affects most entrepreneurs, often creeping in when we least expect it. It’s that nagging feeling that we’re not truly qualified or that our success is merely a result of luck. However, I’m convinced that self-confidence plays a pivotal role in combating this syndrome. One specific event stands out when I reflect on my experience with imposter syndrome. It occurred just before the pandemic hit. I had started receiving public speaking engagements, and this particular one was quite significant, featuring a large audience and a prominent stage. I vividly recall struggling during my presentation due to the negative self-talk that made me doubt my worthiness for this opportunity. Read more>>

I’m not sure if you ever overcome it. At least I haven’t. But there are a few things that have helped me when the imposter thoughts start to come. One, just being able to recognize it and acknowledge it helps to manage it. When the imposter thoughts begin to creep in, I take a break, change spaces, get fresh air, something to change the environment so the mind doesn’t continue to spiral into the negativity of the imposter syndrome. I’m not sure that anyone completely overcomes imposter syndrome for good. It can creep in at any time, especially as you grow your platform and influence, but I’ve found ways to tame the lion, so to speak, so that I can focus on what really matters; following my calling and serving others. One of the ways I’ve been able to quiet the doubts, uncertainty and “noise” in my head is to realize that it’s not about me. Read more>>

Imposter syndrome can be a difficult hurdle to overcome, but I found a way to break through it. By shifting my focus to the quality of the work I was producing, I began to realize that if people were willing to pay for my services, then my expertise must be valuable. Of course, changing my mindset wasn’t an overnight process, but with each satisfied client, I grew more confident in my abilities. Read more>>

When we first started Namakan Goods, we stressed a lot about how to manage everything. Accounting, designing products, pricing, paying taxes, running a website, how to get a patent/trademark… you name it. Starting a business felt so overwhelming, and how could two regular people with other jobs, kids, responsibilities possibly figure this out? But then we’d look around and realize small businesses are everywhere. Read more>>

Honestly? I think I’m ever evolving especially when it comes to imposter syndrome. As someone who grew up dancing and modeling, I was complimented over and over on my looks and my body (even as a child), and my intelligence was passed over. That didn’t come from my parents, but they were two in a sea of people. Read more>>

Imposter syndrome is a fairly common but seldom discussed phenomenon among entrepreneurs, and I too wasn’t immune to it, especially in the early days of co-running Rebel Raw. The responsibility of steering a company that’s so close to my heart sometimes made me question my own capabilities. However, overcoming imposter syndrome was a gradual process filled with introspection and external support. Read more>>

Imposter syndrome was a MAJOR issue in the beginning and I’m still battling it every day. The way to overcome it, in my opinion, is to accept that you will NEVER be #1 in your craft. The people that do get “#1” don’t stay in that spot for long. The key to accepting that is you need to understand that it doesn’t matter if you are at the top of your craft, there will always be a younger, smarter, or more creative person who will take the spotlight eventually. Imposter syndrome is a tricky thing to overcome. First, you have to identify the root. That’s what I did. I grew up in a blended family with 8 children, and you tended to get lost in the sea of children. I wasn’t the best athlete or student in my household, so I had to overcompensate, outwork, and overexert sheer determination. Read more>>

I think it is something that I still overcome daily being a new grad nurse. For a while after I graduated nursing school I honestly questioned myself so many times if this was even real and how did I even pass nursing school. Even after taking my NCLEX I still was questioning myself on how this was even real. I have been working in my residency since July and it is now October and sometimes I still question myself about whether am I a nurse, do I really know what I am doing, or how did I even get here. Well… I’m not sure anyone truly overcomes it, at least not in their own strength. The reasons why behind our struggles typically stem from physical, emotional, and spiritual trauma. And imposter syndrome particularly stems from deep-seated identity issues. We don’t know who we are, and we don’t know Whose we are. So we spend our lives striving to become something better, something more… because who we think we are doesn’t satisfy. Read more>>
