Halston Farmer of Philadelphia on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Halston Farmer. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Halston, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I feel like I am trying to figure out my path but I am still on the wandering side. I say this because I know what I want to do as far as the music goes and what sound(s) I want to bring however, I have been in a rebuilding stage and I am having a hard time trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. I am constantly overthinking and having writers/producers block

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Halston Farmer but I go by H Diz. I am a producer/artist who specializes in what I like to call “Turn Up Music.” It is a blend between rap, hiphop & pop. What makes my brand different is I am an 100% orginal artist who gets things done on my own. I am literally my own team, no guidance at all. I do all the research and marketing for my brand and all of the foot work. I am also apart of the LGBT community.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Scared! I use to be afraid of performing and being in the spotlight or having “The floor.” I also use to be afraid of being the one who wins and has the shine or light on them

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! After losing my father in 2021 I defiantly felt like there was no point of me doing music. I lost all the drive and desire I had to keep going forward and it took me some time to finally get back in the groove of things.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. What you see in the public is what you get behind closed door. I was never raised to put on an image for anybody. I stay true and authentic to who I am.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
The things people have misunderstood about me is everything you see on the internet including my music pages as far as interviews, streams, and places and platforms I have been on are 100% true and factual. My presence on Google and other platforms are my hard work over the years
