HezronH on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with HezronH and have shared our conversation below.

HezronH, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Who are you learning from right now?
Van Gogh, I’m currently reading about his life and studying many of the works that he produced over his lifetime.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m HezronH, and I am a visual artist whose practice explores the concept of identity through figurative portraiture. I use color as a visual language to capture the emotions of my subjects, creating works that feel both chaotic and precise, intimate and expansive. What makes my work unique is that it is never a one-sided statement; instead, it becomes a dialogue between myself, the subject, and the viewer. Each piece invites reflection, allowing people to see not only the story I present but also fragments of their own lived experience mirrored back to them. I am currently developing a collection of works titled “Garden”, which I plan to present as a major solo exhibition in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I believe I have always been who I was meant to be—different, distinct, and outside the norm; and maybe I only refined it over time. The world is always imposing what it wants us to be, to fit into its boxes. I don’t think I’ve ever conformed to that.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep listening to the quiet voice within you. It will lead you to the colors, the stories, and the truths that will shape your art and your life.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
What people see is a portrait. It’s a sliver of light that’s part of a wider kaleidoscope. It carries light and color that hint at the interior, but the depth lives beneath the surface. I choose what to show so I can keep creating from a place of truth.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
Family. Memory. Essence.
