One of the most fundamental questions I ask myself when approaching a fork in the road is “what’s the worst thing that can happen?” I got the idea from Diane Dreher, the author of “The Tao of Inner Peace.” I don’t mention Taoism to parade my philosophical practices before you all. It’s only to say that Taoism has provided me with the means to see beyond humanity’s mainstream frontier of dreaming. How did I develop my decision making skills? I would say that I developed those skills while going to college and working in sales in my early career because you have to be quick when making decisions. I say that because in sales, sometimes you have to view it both ways and by that I mean from the other persons shoes and your shoes. Sometimes, if you take too long to make a decision it can complicate things and make it harder for you to make said decision. For me, decision-making is a combination of trusting my gut and safe-guarding my time. For the gut piece, if anything is giving me pause (is this the right way, is there a potential blocker), then I investigate and ask a lot of follow up questions for where a root cause of pause could be coming from.
