Ignoring the Naysayers

Almost everything that’s changed the world in a positive way has been an unreasonable idea. It’s unreasonable, until it’s commons sense. That’s how change happens and so in order to make a difference in the world, it’s incredibly important to be able to ignore the naysayers. Some of the best and brightest from our community share their stories and advice below.

I think the only way to avoid being criticize and judge by haters ore negative people, is by doing absolutely nothing. And that’s exactly what you’re going to achieve. “NOTHING”. I think negative people are part of the journey. In fact, I almost think that when you don’t find them on the road, maybe you’re not doing something worth it.  Read more>>

This is a fantastic question because my attitude when I started my podcast is completely different from what my attitude is now. Back in September 2016 when I started, I read every review on places like iTunes. And my podcast, frankly, got horrible, horrible reviews. It really ate me up because I really thought I was doing a good job. Yes, the audio could’ve been better. But overall, the interviews were great. The podcast was and still is very organized. I cover information on disappearances that nobody else touches. Read more>>

My mentors have always told me that no one who is doing better than you will hate on you, so why should I let the opinions of others make me feel worse about what I’m doing? I should be thankful to have the attention that I do, the millions of eyeballs my content gets to keep pushing forward and realizing I can’t please everyone.  Read more>>

I look at negative comments or “haters” in a different way than I would assume most people do. When I was starting out on YouTube, I would actively look for negative comments. Not because of a motivational reason or a vindictive one, but because I knew that seeing negative comments meant that I was reaching a wider audience. I took it as a sign that my channel was growing and that let me know that I was doing something right.  Read more>>

I can do all things through spite, which strengthens me (tell me you’re a water sign without telling me!) It’s really all about alchemizing negativity by turning it into fuel + art. I also just love to prove a b*tch wrong so if there’s one thing I’m gonna do baby, it’s that. Don’t play with me! (or do…) Read more>>

Somethings that help me keep going despite the haters and naysayers: 1. Knowing that they typically have good intentions (the ones in my life at least).
9 times out of 10 the things they say are fear based and realizing that fear is NOT mine, helps me disassociate from it. Read more>>

I was always taught that haters, nay-sayers, and doubters should be welcomed and appreciated. The fact that people have time to focus on you and not their own advancement indicates that you are on the right path. In life you learn to pray for those that despise you and use the hatred as fuel to move forward. God gave me an assigned purpose on this Earth, and I cannot afford to compromise my destiny for those that don’t believe.  Read more>>

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been persistent. Once I set a goal, my mind is focused on completing that goal! I decided when I was younger that I wanted to be a Fashion Designer, and I wanted to one day own my own boutique. Becoming a single mother in the midst of this goal has been completely overwhelming, however it pushes me to excel even further because I’m going to leave a legacy for my children, grandchildren, and those that follow behind them. I feel that this is a tough thing that a lot of people struggle with. Because it hurts to know that there are actual people that wake up and live to hate on people. I find strength in knowing my value and worth which allows me to persist and push pass haters and what they say. I’m convinced that haters are people that look at who they wish they can become. And the fact that they can’t become that person, they have no choice but to hate. Having this strong mindset allows me to persist pass anything that any haters say or do. Read more>>

There will always be haters and nay-sayers in every industry. I persist through that negativity by focusing on why I chose to take this step for my career in the first place and trusting that it will lead me to a better place that I was before. I also enjoy how it feels to break new boundaries and show people that I am capable of doing things they didn’t think I could do. I think about what it will feel like the moment I get to show them that what they thought was impossible IS possible and I got to prove it.  Read more>>

Persistence is in my bloodline tracing back to slavery. My lineage consists of entrepreneurs, serviceman, politicians and many more who always stood the test of time and finished the course no matter the obstacle. I’ve dealt with nay-sayers and slander yet I’m able to overcome because my faith does not lie in man. In this life, you learn people will cast stones and hide their hand. Read more>>

Honestly the haters and nay-sayers are the ones that help me persist. Sounds weird but if you don’t have any haters or people doubting you you’re not doing something right. People only speak negative and hate on things that are bigger, better, and greater than them. Any negativity i receive wether it’s family, friends or whoever it is i take that negativity and that hate and use it as fuel to my fire and push myself to higher levels. Read more>>

The hardest challenge or task to overcome is the negativity that comes with being a business owner. Many people have different opinions and different feelings when it comes to you, your job and/or passion. I try to overcome those challenges by not only trusting in God, but also accepting the difference in opinions so that I can perfect my craft. Everything that makes sense to me may not make sense to everyone else, and as long as you have faith you will prosper.  Read more>>
