Ignoring the Naysayers

Almost everything that’s changed the world in a positive way has been an unreasonable idea. It’s unreasonable, until it’s commons sense. That’s how change happens and so in order to make a difference in the world, it’s incredibly important to be able to ignore the naysayers. Some of the best and brightest from our community share their stories and advice below.

I love this question because when people hating that means I’m doing something great and they just want to trick me out of my position. So when the haters start talking their noise and the naysayers start whispering behind my back, that’s when I gotta channel that inner Dog mentality inside of me with a twist of divine intervention.  Read more>>

In January of 2023 I found myself as the object of hate, vitriol, death threats and plastered on a Proud Boys flyer. In December of the prior year, 2022, I’d posted on my twitter, “Whiteness is so evil.. it manipulates then says, I won’t apologize for my dishonesty and trauma inducing practices and thinks you should applaud it for being honest about it’s ability to manipulate and be dishonest.. #Deceitful #Perfidious” Read more>>

As a pastor and ordained minister who writes horror, I get a lot of haters. Especially when I first started. I had life long friends turn their back on me, question my faith, and tell me I was doing the devils work. These types of attacks went on for years. it got so bad I eventually had to result to blocking numbers and people on social media.  Read more>>

I look at me and I look at them. No offense to anyone but if you are in the same position you were ten years ago, then who are you to judge me? I work hard to get what I want and anyone who isn’t ahead of me is behind me and I’m not thinking about them in the least bit. Except for when it comes to fueling my fire/passion. I love me a hater keep watching as I rise up 😅. Read more>>

Thank you for this question. It means a lot because navigating through life with haters buzzing around like pesky flies has been quite the journey in my life – I’m not going to lie. What’s even more intriguing is that the majority of them happen to be women who proudly called themselves “mental health or women rights advocates”. However, I’ve learned to navigate these challenges by staying true to myself and focusing on my goals. Read more>>

When I started my online business, people around me would say the word “blog” like it was a dirty word – some secret I should be keeping and not telling anyone about. So I was ashamed of it, and hid it for years. I’d write content at 2AM, and squirrel away any hours I could to work on my social media while hiding it from my friends and family. Read more>>

Giving up is not an option. If I ever STOP… I need it to be on my own terms, of my own will. You know how FB memories will show you posts from years ago? Not too long ago, I saw an old birthday post from my dad, detailing that I have been competitive since 4 years old. There is resilience, tenacity and excellence built into my genetic code, so there’s really no power in what ANYONE can SAY. There’s not a “nay” that can be uttered that counters the resounding truth. Persisting despite nay-sayers can be very challenging at times. It’s nothing any person can get used to, but if you believe in their words you will never achieve your goals. That’s why I surround myself with positive people that are rooting for me to win. The family that I have created is like no other. They pick me up when I am feeling down, while giving me a pep talk to help me stand on my feet. Read more>>

I keep a positive circle of like minded friends. We might all be in different industries but we face similar challenges. Being able to bounce ideas around, share grievances and create vacation plans within my circle of friends keeps me in a positive place. Between being busy running a business and keeping a positive circle, the voices of the nay-sayers doesn’t even have get the opportunity to creep in. Read more>>

How I persisted despite the haters and nay-sayers, is because through their skepticism and lack of faith in my ability to achieve my dreams, all that created courage and a massive drive. I love the underdog stories in movies when people doubt an individual and they come out swing with accomplishments and courage to never give up on their dreams. I always tell myself, “If they can do it, I can too”. Read more>>

When I first started playing music, I wasn’t one who picked things up immediately, unlike some of my peers. I was someone who had to listen to something over and over and over in order for it to stick. I distinctly remember being in my high school marching band in the 9th grade and found myself given the “not-so-fun” duties or instruments to play.  Read more>>
