We recently had the chance to connect with ISART Design and have shared our conversation below.
Hi ISART, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Carrying a dream on your back is without a doubt a tough and demanding battle, but in the end, it makes your eyes shine with a deep sense of fulfillment. I’m truly proud of everything I’ve achieved so far, and of the fact that I’m building my own little empire, in the form of: wearable art. People often see the beauty of a brand or a business, but they don’t see the long days and sleepless nights behind it. They don’t see how, at times, we have to prioritize our clients over our friends, how it influences the choices we make in life, how it forces us to grow faster and see the world from a different perspective. Today, my dream and I are one, body and soul, and I feel genuinely grateful for every decision I’ve made that allowed me to keep nurturing my creativity and stay true to this path.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Welcome to our magical world! I’m Ines, and I created ISART DESIGN 15 years ago, a clothing brand born from an irreverent desire to tell a new story: to create a unique style of wearable art defined by creative fusion, and by the evolution and modern twist on traditional, handcrafted leatherwork. Our pieces are 100% handmade and also designed to be size-adjustable, making them super versatile.
This is a dream we shaped with our own hands and minds, exploring a new boho aesthetic that brings in our exotic and Arabic roots, always playing with special tones, escaping minimalism, and exaggerating the details, because here, more is always more.
What we offer is a different kind of combination in the fashion world: clothing and jewelry as one. That fusion is what inspired us to bring this brand to life. Our clients completely feel the love poured into every single creation. They form the most beautiful tribe of festival-goers around the world, and they especially love our skirts and tops adorned with semi-precious stones.
Very nomadic in spirit, my brand encourages women to express their true selves: wild and free, without fear. It’s a re-discovery of the feminine, a way to awaken her divine energy and reconnect her with her essence. Everything we create is 100% made for each individual, designed to make you shine even brighter. Because when something is created with this much passion, it becomes something spiritual.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I have no doubt that being born with an artistic gift has made me a completely different person. It has shaped who I am today and made it clear that I don’t fully fit into this world/ era. From a very young age, my intuition and creative abilities revealed themselves in a very powerful way. I could never see myself with any other gift. Without a doubt, being honored to be part of the “chosen ones of the art club” made me believe more in myself, in my potential, and in the way I can express myself to the world without fear.
It has shown me, in many different ways, that being different isn’t a bad thing at all.
This path has brought more intensity and a certain melancholy into my life, but I believe that’s part of being an (crazy) artist. We’re wired to feel things more deeply and to see the world through a completely different lens. It’s part of who we are, and there’s no way to switch it off.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
One of my life mottos will always be: “Art that heals”. And without a doubt, that became my superpower. The evolution of my brand has made me experience so many different emotions. You have to be strong even when you don’t feel strong, because you have to keep going. You have to do it, even when the motivation isn’t there. You have to make it work, because sometimes it’s your first and last chance. You have to become your own comic book heroine, one of the strong ones. We often joke that I’m two people: Ines and Ines ISART. They’re very different versions of me, but one always pushes the other forward. I went from being a girl with little dreams to a woman with a big vision, with more self-confidence, and with strong belief in what I do & my talent. When I’m creating, I don’t think about anything else, I live fully in the moment. And that gives me the peace my mind needs. Strangely enough, the lower I feel emotionally, the more ideas I seem to have. That’s just how it is.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
That story we mentioned earlier, the idea that there are always two versions of ourselves, is something I deeply relate to. Like yin-yang, it’s the balance of life.
So what do my two versions have in common? Truth.
Both of them are absolutely obsessed with truth, with being fully themselves, no matter the consequences.
In my personal version, I’m a different person: quiet, simple, and grounded. Someone who seeks peace and silence, who doesn’t carry a deep self-confidence, and a daydreamer.
In my business version, I’m strong and powerful, filled with confidence and ready to conquer the world without fear. I’m always driven to do more, to do better, and to reach the goals I set for myself, even if I have to move to the other side of the world.
These two sides of me have learned how to coexist over the years. One has taught the other, and now they’re connected by a rope, holding each other up, never letting the other fall.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
It all started by feeding the dream, but also the fear of not being enough.
We went through many battles just to make our voice heard, especially with a style that didn’t fit the norm. And anyone who didn’t like it never brought us down, they only made us want to do more & more, and better & better.
So yes, it’s in my DNA to keep going, to always do more, to always do better. The goal has always been to create feeling. To allow others to wear a piece of my soul and feel like real, powerful goddesses.
I’ve always said that even if I didn’t sell a single piece, I would still keep creating. And I believe that’s exactly where you can feel the depth of my connection and passion for this art.
