We’re looking forward to introducing you to IV Mercedes La Reina Mercedes. Check out our conversation below.

IV Mercedes La Reina , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Energy is most important because it can’t be manipulated. I think Energy encompasses integrity and intelligence.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is IV Mercedes La Reina, I recently received my US citizenship a journey in itself that has made me a courageous, compassionate, grateful, graceful person. It feels good accomplishing the dreams that kept me awake at night. I change my legal name to reflectthe woman I am now. I am embody grace, wisdom, compassionand live unapologetically. I want to keep marking things off my bucket list. My motto is ” never give up.” I adopted this motto through my Buddhist practice that gives me the clarity to always move forward. We all have a reason for being alive and our purpose. I am a plus size model ,black Spaniard raised in Brooklyn N.Y living in Philadelphia to open up a Girls Camp towards the summer 2030.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother. She named me ” Mercedes ” and her nickname for me was ” Reina “. She saw me and always said I was her favorite. She knew who I was as soon as I was born. It took me a while to learn who I am through my lives journey. I know now 👸🏿

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that i can choose how long to suffer. It’s not a situation thay i suffer from is how i internalize it. I can reflect on the lesson and turn things around(Pivot). Success teaches me to not get comfortable, be intentional with my thoughts, actions and who gets access to me.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that loyalty, honesty, quality time, food and some trivia game, and a good nap are important to me.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people will most misunderstand, why i don’t want to bear my own children. I say that because i’ve had conversations about this topic ( a lot). I’ll leave my legacy as a model, philanthropist, advicate, business owner, world traveler, daughter, sister, friend, aunt…Because I can still leave a legacy with my passion to encourage women to live unapologetically. I will be a house hold name like Oprah 😊
