Ja’Rian (Jay), really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day always consists of listening to Napoleon Hill Inspiring messages on YouTube while getting ready for whatever the day has in store. I usually can get a good workout in as well during all of this.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Greetings, My name Is Ja’Rian Liggens better known as Jay. I am the Owner of Around The Way Jay’s Painting & Maintenance Services PLLC. (Formerly Known As The Prestigious Painting Company) I am 31 years old, I am a entrepreneurial contractor. I am located in beautiful Denver Colorado! My Services include professional interior/ exterior painting, handyman/ maintenence Services
( plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry , appliance repair, Hvac service, etc) I started my company to provide quality service for those who need realistic prices based on their financial situation. Around The Way Jay’s believes everyone has the right to have a well functioning household or business no matter their financial hurdles. We are always reasonable and always around!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Well personally I have always had alot of ambition that has been seen by others as long as I can remember. The weight of everyone hoping they are right about you, the weight of hoping your right about yourself has been something that I have had to adjust to and grow from since I was mature enough to realize how important to me and deep rooted in who I am it truly is.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
My most defining and recent wounds life dealt to me was the passing of my younger brother
“Tre’Von Antwan Watts” who tragically died in a car accident in March of 2023. Tre’Von was my bestfriend in the world literally. 20 years of family and friendship. Frankly it is something I am still healing from but I stay optimistic. I add this pain to my motivation in all operations. Tre’Von was one of my biggest supporters.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes most definitely. Every version anyone see of me is the real me. certain situations cause for different approaches or can inadvertently cause an abnormal reaction, this is all apart of being human. I believe the true character shows more in non rehearsed scenarios.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Although a pat on the back is nice and can be motivating or validating at that moment. I have learned through my successes and failures that when you are in tunnel vision building your legacy you dreamed recognition is only a side effect. It’s truly about you and reaching your goals and fulfilling your dreams no matter how impossible they may seem.
