Javier Morejon on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Javier Morejon and have shared our conversation below.

Javier , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are started in prayer and thanksgiving. Followed by brewing some coffee and reading the bible (GOD’s word). We have five dogs and a pig that I let out of there room and take them outside so they can run around. I then sit at my desk and write my wife a letter of how amazing she is and how much I love her. Lastly I go to my computer check emails, reservations and set up the calendar for the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Javier Morejon I am a GOD fearing man. I am married to Christie Morejon who I have known since we were in first grade together. I have 4 daughters and 3 grandchildren. My parents came from Cuba and I have 2 brothers 1 older and 1 younger.
My company is Airboat In Everglades and has been operating for approximately 14 years. We cater to our guest on comfortable airboats and even have door to door transportation available for those who would like it. We provide a guided safari in the Everglades. At Airboat In Everglades we give our guest a life experience. We do with them what we do with our friends and family. Reservations are required and can be made over the phone directly with a specialist or on line at airboatineverglades.com

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work. My father is very hands on and taught me that a man must work if he wants to eat.
He also taught me that all things are possible to achieve if you put your mind to it. My mother spent many years sewing and maintaining the house. She cooks, cleans, does laundry and would sew from home in order to raise us. My father worked long hours and made sure all things were taken care of. They balanced their time wisely, raised us with strong morals and a great work ethic. I would not be who I am today if not for my loving parents.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
After 2 failed marriages and a battle with addiction to drugs and alcohol. God saved me and loved me when I was unlovable.
I had a great upbringing and was able to succeeding in everything I did. During the divorce of my first marriage I started using drugs to cope with failing as a father and husband. I later repeated this same insane pattern for my second marriage. Where shortly after I did a 1 year residential Christian based rehab program. Followed by a short prison stay. After this rough but will deserved part of my life. I reconnected with a life long friend Christie Guerrero who shortly after became my wife. We both struggled with thing but had Jesus Christ who got us through it. Because of the events, struggles and hard time we grow and have been able to overcome and succeed in life life today.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes the public version of me is the real me. I don’t know how to be anything but real. I believe it would be extremely hard to act different or be fake just because it would be a constant fraud. Life is so much better and simple when you are who you are and everyone can see it.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am on a boat/airboat in the middle of God’s creation. There is nothing better or peaceful then the sounds of birds and animals in the wild. It is just medicine for the mind, body and soul.
