Jenn Trepeck of Greenwich Village on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jenn Trepeck. Check out our conversation below.

Jenn, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
A common misconception about my business is that people think it’s about being the food police, telling you what to eat and what not to eat, or they think it’s just a different spin on the diet dogma you see everywhere online. In reality, Salad with a Side of Fries is the complete opposite. It is about quieting the noise, moving away from the eat this/not that mentality, and giving you access to tools that set you up to enjoy life, healing your relationship with food, body and self. This was also part of the inspiration behind my book (releasing October 2025), to further the conversation and provide readers with a realistic roadmap for their own health journey.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve been described as a “force of nature” in the wellness space. Recognition includes Podcast Magazine’s 40 under 40, and nominations for the 2022 International Women’s Podcast Award (Visionary Leadership), 2025 and 2025 Ear Worthy Best Independent Podcast. I also has won Ear Worthy’s 2024 and 2025 Best Health Podcast award and Women Who Podcast’s Stellar Interview 2025. I’m a Health and Lifestyle Coach, Podcaster and Business Consultant. After graduating from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, I started my company while working full time in hedge funds. After over a decade of coaching clients, I launched Salad with a Side of Fries podcast to help pay it forward and reach a larger audience to teach the nutrition education we are all supposed to know, but no one ever taught us. In addition to coaching clients individually or in small groups, I implement revenue-generating wellness programs in doctors’ offices, salons and spas to further expand impact and help change the state of healthcare as a Certified GoTrim Lifestyle Coach and Consultant with nutraMetrix Custom Health Solutions. I’m typically working out at Physique57 or A-List, discovering hidden gem restaurants in NYC or traveling to spend time with friends and family. My debut book, Uncomplicating Wellness (October 2025), offers a science-based yet practical approach to cut through the noise of the wellness industry and help readers finally trust their bodies again.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger, I developed an identity as the “skinny one” in a family of dieters. I was a dancer. I had intertwined my value with my body. Over time, I learned that who I am has nothing to do with a number on the scale or the size of my jeans. My worth comes from my heart, my brain, and the way I show up in the world.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this: You are enough exactly as you are. And perfection not required. You do not have to work harder, be smaller, or smarter, or perfect to prove yourself. That fight against perfectionism is a hard battle, and ultimately, there’s no such thing as perfect! One of my greatest lessons over the last 6 years is that everyone’s making it up as they go! No one has it all figured out! Everyone is simply doing their best, in each moment. Perhaps one more thing I’d tell her: It’s all going to work out.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I think so many smart and well-intentioned people are still getting it wrong when it comes to health and wellness because they’re chasing quick fixes instead of long-term solutions. The diet industry has conditioned us to believe that the latest cleanse, powder, hack, even pharmaceutical is the answer. In reality, most of those options create temporary results or rather results in one area at the expense of others. Fundamentally, the number on the scale does not equate to health. There are ZERO diseases that exist ONLY in bigger bodies. And when we chase a result, no matter the consequence, we’re likely to end up frustrated. Every gimme has a gotcha.

People underestimate how much blood sugar impacts everything from mood to energy to willpower, and they overlook the role of consistency, mindset, and process in creating health, longevity and vitality. It’s not about deprivation or “discipline.” It’s about learning how to work with your body instead of against it.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my community would miss my ability to translate complicated nutrition science into practical, no-nonsense steps they can actually apply in daily life. They’d miss the assistance of someone taking a more critical eye to the headlines that so easily catch their attention. They’d miss the judgment-free zone I create, where it’s not about being “perfect,” it’s about making better choices and enjoying life. What people value most is not just the knowledge, but the coaching, accountability, and compassion that make them feel seen and supported. They’d miss the blend of science, strategy, and humor that helps them finally break free from the diet rollercoaster and feel empowered in their bodies and lives.
