We recently had the chance to connect with Jesse Rojas and have shared our conversation below.
Jesse, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am proud of building my inner resilience and a stronger bond with my inner circle of friends and family. As you grow in life you realize how short it is and how valuable both the time and people around you who spend it with you are. Through the turbulence of it all, I am very grateful to have them in my life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jesse Rojas, I am an entrepreneur and an e-commerce professional also one of the owners here at Zenrojas tea. We are a veteran owned, minority owned and family operated business that sells loose leaf organic tea. We started our company when I was on deployment in 2020 to the South China Sea during the height of Covid. We were looking for a wholistic alternative to the traditional remedies for keeping general ailments and covid out of our household, thus zenrojas was born.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed that you were affected by other people’s shortcomings in life. As I’ve matured I realize that’s not the case and in most of those instances it’s a sad scenario of misery loves company. The ultimate antidote to this is focus, hard work, surrounding yourself with positive energy and inspirational things.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Enhanced perspective and audacity. The truth is when you lose things you love (people, possession’s etc.) it forces you into a deep reflective state that in some cases becomes almost meditative. It is this clarity that truly sheds light on what matters and how you can better cultivate and preserve your relationship to it so that every moment you share in its presence is a blessing.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Giving back. Selflessness is one of the greatest qualities a human being can have and no matter how long it takes our company to get to that level we would love to become more Philanthropic in our endeavors. Starting with our community be that through churches, schools, food banks, organizations that support veterans and first responders alike.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What light inside you have you been dimming?
My intense passion for martial arts. With life becoming busier by the day it becomes difficult to integrate the hobbies I am enthusiastic about. I would love to someday infuse the ancient history of teas mind, soul and body healing approach with the same mindfulness that martial arts emphasizes but only time will tell.
