Jordan Attarian shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Jordan, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I spent a lot of time wandering in my past. I have been in many career fields and industries, hold lots of different certificates, but I think if I didn’t wonder what else was out there, I would have never found the path I walk now. This is your sign to not fear wandering because it doesn’t mean you’re lost, just looking for something that truly calls to your soul.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Creating Violet Imagery was the biggest step I ever took in life and seeing how far it has come, how far I have come, feels like a dream, slowly but surely coming true. My business saved me from myself and the path I was spiraling down, and now my whole business is built around creating tools and offering services that other people can use to learn, grow, and evolve into their best selves. I am constantly creating new books and workshops that are based around different healings and teachings, for example, Past Life Regressions, Astrology Courses, Guided Meditations, Creative Journaling Techniques, and so much more. So there is always something to look forward to and to learn at Violet Imagery.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I was blinded to my true form for most of my life, struggling constantly with self loathing and depression, being surrounded by all the wrong people in all the wrong places. My husband Michael is the person who saw me for who I really am and has helped me embody that truth! He saw the potential within me that I was too afraid to live up to. He saw the hurt within me that I was too afraid to heal. He saw the me that I hid from the world because it felt safer that way. Every part of me I was afraid to be, he helped me heal. Our life together has felt like a dream. Getting married at WrestleMania, traveling the country to do events and go on adventures, building a business greater than I had ever hoped. Michael is my other half and without him, life just wouldn’t be the same because I wouldn’t be me, and that’s all because he saw me so clearly I couldn’t hide anymore.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
My younger self could have really used the wisdom I have now. If I could pick one thing to say to that version of myself, it would be this… “The negative opinions of others do not determine your truth or your value. You are loved, so give love to those who are good to you and for you instead of trying to convince everyone who never will to change their ways.” If I could have been able to embody this powerful message decades earlier, it would have changed my life exponentially. This is the message I try to give to others to hopefully empower their path.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The metaphysical industry likes to wear a mask of being very “woke” or all about “love and light” but with my experience some people in the community are anything but that. There is so much gate keeping, pay walls, misinformation, and toxic energy. It is really hard to find people that actually embody what being a teacher and a healer is. I have seen those who use their “gifts” to take advantage of people and give bad names to the people who are actually trying to help, teach, and guide others. Its a sad reality in many industries, not just this one.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am definitely living in my highest truth. What others told me I should do never sat right with me, so I had to seek my own path and my own happiness. I have completely found what I love, and I actually did find it pretty early. I started reading tarot when I was 12 years old and I started teaching in my early 20’s, now in my early 30’s I have created my own decks, taught all over the U.S. and strive for even more. I was born to guide others and express magic through art and here I am following that dream.
