Julia Penza shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Julia, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Each of these attributes possesses inherent value, yet their optimal effectiveness is realized through synergistic interaction. Consequently, I place significant emphasis on all three of these qualities.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Julia Penza, a tattoo artist with a career commencing in 2020. Over this period, I have successfully established a career and achieved international recognition, evidenced by various awards and an EB1A visa for individuals with extraordinary ability. Currently, I am focused on advancing my professional development and broadening my operational scope across the United States, specifically within the states of Florida and California, which necessitates extensive travel.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Certainly, setbacks provide valuable insights into aspirations and foster development. While no one welcomes failure, it often serves as a powerful catalyst for progress. Prior to establishing my tattoo artistry, I launched an art school. However, unforeseen circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic led to its closure, which I initially perceived as a significant setback. Nevertheless, a series of subsequent actions ultimately guided me to a thriving tattoo business.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The apprehension of failure often deters individuals from initiating numerous endeavors. However, many undertakings prove to be surprisingly straightforward, efficient, and secure. Once an individual has encountered failure a few times, the fear of progressing diminishes. The crucial aspect is to refrain from self-reproach and instead commend oneself for the effort expended.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
As a tattoo artist without personal tattoos, I have achieved significant success in my profession. However, the prevailing stereotype associated with tattoo artists continues to influence public perception.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
While I do not claim universal significance, I aspire to be recognized and remembered for my unwavering principles, positive drive, innovative thinking, and strong creative aptitude. Currently, my invention for the tattoo industry is undergoing review at the US Patent Center. I am optimistic that its approval will enable me to make a meaningful contribution to the field.
