My creativity is super important to me as a graphic designer, but it’s easy to hit burnout or get stuck in a rut. I keep things fresh by playing! It is something my teachers and mentors have always encouraged. Whether it’s sketching, doodling, or even playing video games and board games, I love doing things just for fun with no pressure. It is a constant practice. I think that there’s this idea that creativity is something that just shows up on its own schedule and comes and goes as it pleases. It is that to some extent, but I also think that you have to put yourself in a position consistently to be open to creativity and to expose yourself to inspiring situations, works, and people. If I can keep the child in me alive, I’ll keep my creativity alive.
Actually, I do exercise my creativity. I guess that keeps it alive. One exercise is to use an observation as a prompt for a new story.
For instance, one time I was walking along a street in a town new to me and I began noticing that the trees were covered with small knots. The knots were almond shaped and centered with circular marks. Read More>>

One of my favorite professors in college once told us, “As long as you read stories, watch movies, or even look at your surroundings you’ll never have art block.” That stuck with me because I always come up with ideas or stories in my head but I never really thought about how I go to that point until they told us that. My art is just a big mixing bowl of everything I’ve ever seen, read, listened, even tasted. With the help of social media, I’m constantly adding new ingredients to my bowl. Read More>>

We are all reflections of god’s beautiful, divine, and perfect design. We are love and through his reflection we are love. The greatest gift the creator has ever given all of us is creativity. Oh, I love this question! Keeping creativity alive is such an essential part of thriving in a creative industry. And the answer lies in the keywords: “KEEP” and “ALIVE.”
‘Keep’ is a verb, which means that it involves action! It actually means to “continue doing.” And that’s a really important piece to the creative puzzle. (ANY creative puzzle…) And the word “alive” is very fitting because creativity is, in fact, a LIVING, BREATHING thing. Read More>>
