LaMeika Draughn of Braintree on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with LaMeika Draughn and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning LaMeika, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes absolutely! Sometimes we get caught up thinking we’re going to miss an opportunity by making a quick decision but in hindsight what’s truly meant for you will always find its way to you.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is LaMeika and I’m the owner of Cocochannellefaces, an esthetics brand where I specialize in facials, brows, and beauty services designed to help people feel confident in their skin. What makes my brand unique is that I focus on creating a luxurious yet approachable experience, even in a small studio space. I believe skincare should feel both effective and indulgent, so I combine results-driven treatments with a warm, welcoming vibe that helps my clients relax and leave glowing—inside and out.
My story started with a love for beauty and self-care, and it’s grown into a passion for educating people about their skin while providing services that fit their lifestyle. Whether it’s a quick “Mini Glo” facial or a full glow-up, my goal is always to help clients see real improvements while also giving them a chance to recharge.
Right now, I’m working on growing my brand in the Braintree area through client education, events, and content creation. What excites me most is building a community around skincare—where people don’t just come for treatments, but also learn how to take better care of themselves at home.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I thought my opportunity in this field had already passed me by. I watched so many others in my industry grow and succeed while I felt like I was falling behind. For a while, I convinced myself that maybe this career wasn’t meant for me. But that experience taught me one of the most important lessons of my life—that timing is everything, and that patience is just as important as passion.
I realized that God never overlooks us, and even if it feels like doors are closing, He is still aligning everything in our favor. That perspective shift gave me peace and reminded me that my path doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. My time was coming—and when it did, it would flourish in the way it was meant to.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was definitely a time I almost gave up. After watching others in my field surpass me, I started to believe that maybe this path just wasn’t meant for me. I was so close to walking away and accepting that my chance had passed. But in that low moment, I realized that what’s meant for me will never miss me. That shift in perspective gave me the strength to keep going.
Instead of giving up, I leaned into patience and faith. I reminded myself that everyone’s journey looks different, and that mine was simply unfolding in its own time. Looking back now, I’m grateful I didn’t give in to those doubts, because I would’ve missed out on building something that I truly love and that continues to grow every day.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. The public version of me is the real me. I’ve always believed in showing up as my true, authentic self. I don’t feel the need to put on a front or portray someone I’m not just to be liked. I’m very confident in who I am, and I think that’s what allows people to genuinely connect with me—because what they see is exactly what they get.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, absolutely. I believe in giving my best no matter what, even if no one is clapping. At the end of the day, external praise is nice, but it’s not what drives me. I know that eventually there will always be people who recognize and appreciate what I do—but even before that, I’ve learned to be my own motivator.
When you’re true to yourself and committed to your craft, you don’t need constant validation to keep going. The fulfillment comes from knowing you showed up fully and gave it your all.
