Laura Belmonte & Jake Belmonte of Baltimore on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Laura Belmonte & Jake Belmonte. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Laura & Jake , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
That is a fuzzy answer, I have been wandering through the journey lately. letting life fall into place. I am honestly not chasing anything. When Jake and I first started out we were chasing the idea that there were certain achievements we needed to get to as musicians. You could say we were chasing the dream and then realized the dream to us was just to be able to create music the way we wanted.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
hi we are Lost In Clovers we are weird from Maryland. my name is Laura and and my bandmate is Jake. Our music roots grew from blues, rock, indie and ancient folklore roots and ultimately I’d love to see our music be used as a soundtrack to a Folk Horror genre film. Right now we are working on our 5th album.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
The same person. We work normal boring day to day jobs to make ends meet. We feel truly blessed to be given a uniquness in the world. There is a fire, a yearning to make music, singing to a full room, a small hall, outside market, no people at all. It all matters to us. We are able to just be.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Sure, a few times but I look back and am glad I didn’t and that Jake never did. There has been negativity, toxic people, doors closed in our face, doors that wouldn’t even open. We’ve even succumb to peer pressure – We lived in a music scene where only cover artist were being booked. We couldn’t get booked because we performed original music. I told Jake we should challenge ourselves and a beautiful song came from it. We took on House of the Rising Sun as a version of our own. It’s one of our favorites to play., So even at the edge of giving up we found growth and our band Lost In Clovers got stronger and booked!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes this is the real us.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
During practice, the beauty in our friendship and relationship. The peace in knowing we are both 50/50 creators and have love for our Art and the legacy of Lost In Clovers.
