We recently had the chance to connect with Lee Santos and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lee, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I feel loved by my three adult children who lead happy, and productive lives. . Two of them graduated from the same University and the other has 2 small children he’s raising and juggling work and parenting. So I am a grandmother’ now and it feels great! They’re so adorable and they’re doing so well.
I also feel a lot of love from my two dogs.. One is a giant Belgium Malinois and the other is a Pitbull lab mix.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lee Santos and I recently moved to New Orleans, I was drawn to the live music scene because I am a guitarist, drummer and keyboardist.
I bought an old, gutted, small commercial building and renovated it completely. I designed it to be a modern apartment on the inside and some French flair on the outside..
It’s very close to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter where all the action is happening. and turned it into a rental property.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I was always so trusting of friends, employees, romantic partners, until I realized that nearly every single one of them were untrustworthy, thieves, liars, and con artists who took advantage of me and my naivety. and were constantly scamming me out of money.,
So I became a loner, not going out, not meeting people, I don’t drink alcohol anymore and no longer like to party.,
Instead, I watch a lot of Netflix and have been learning about mixing music on Dj equipment. I was a radio Dj when I was younger and it was the most fun job I ever had!
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to stop doing stupid and ridiculous things all the time. My self esteem was non existent. I was always out partying and looking for “the one!” I wanted to find the perfect man that I could grow old with .
Well, THAT was a giant failure! After several attempts of having a long term relationship, I realized that their problems were more than I could handle. I didn’t want to be their caregiver in our old age. They lived very unhealthy lifestyles so it was a grim looking future.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
From personal experience with dogs, I have a belief that all UP-EAR dogs are more anxious, more unpredictable. are unfriendly and don’t really don’t care for anyone else except their family., They also don’t like small children.
And I believe DOWN-EARED dogs are usually sweet, loving, loyal and are good with children. They are so predictable, much more relaxed and do better meeting new people or other dogs.
I’ve told my theory to many people, no one has ever heard of that comparison but then agreed that it seemed highly accurate based on their experiences.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
When I was younger I had a beautiful white Corvette that I took the roof and kept it off. It had the most beautiful flashy chrome wheels with extra wide tires and a muffler that made it sound like a sexy race car..My stereo was great with all around speakers and a subwoofer in the back. You could hear me coming from a mile away. I got so much attention in that car. I sold it and bought a newer model black corvette, It didn’t have the flashy wheels, impressive muffler or stereo., I got bored with it and bought a Black Jeep Wrangler 4×4 with a manual transmission and six gears. Made me feel like a kid again.
