Leila VonSleichter’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Leila VonSleichter and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Leila, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Nature. Doesn’t matter if it’s a walk in a park, hike up a mountain or touching some type of water. Being one with Nature helps me refocus and recharge. It’s kind of my therapist in a way. I either mediate and just try to Focus on being present or I think about the future and plans.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I have been a Makeup Artist in Las Vegas for over 16 years. I also own one of the leading artist agencies in Vegas. My journey in beauty started as an esthetician, but I quickly fell in love with makeup. There’s something so rewarding about seeing the transformations and the smiles on people’s faces. I’m known in the beauty community for my influential presence and have hosted many events where I’ve interviewed top industry leaders often while doing their makeup! My social media following has grown rapidly, and I get to collaborate with some of the world’s top brands.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked on countless magazine editorials and red carpet looks for celebrities like J Balvin, America Ferrera, Ashanti, Heather Rae El Moussa, and many more. I’m honored to be in The Knot’s Best of Weddings Hall of Fame, a recipient of Deluxe Version Magazine’s Women of Wonder Award, and recently named one of Real Vegas Magazine’s “Women who Wow!”

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My senior year of high school i was the director of my Schools play one act. It was my first taste of coming up with ideas and directing a large group of people by myself to make something magical.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh my gosh, yes. When I decided to start my artist agency about six years into my career, I had no business background at all. I was doing everything myself—running the agency, working as an artist, managing bookings and emails, all while being a mom and trying to balance life. It got incredibly overwhelming at times, and there were definitely moments I questioned if I could keep going. But those challenges helped me grow, learn to delegate, and trust myself. Looking back, that season really shaped me into the business owner and leader I am today.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, to an extent. I think in this industry you do have to be “on” a lot of the time. It’s still me, just a slightly amplified version. I naturally have a lot of energy and I’m very go-go-go in real life, so what people see publicly isn’t fake—it’s just turned up a bit. At my core, I’m the same person whether the camera is on or off.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Yes absolutely. I truly believe I’m doing exactly what I was born to do. It may have taken me a little longer to fully step into it, but once I finally listened to God, the Universe, my intuition, whatever you want to call it and took that leap of faith, everything aligned. Looking back, the signs were always there. I’ve loved giving makeovers since I was a little girl. I even have photos of myself at nine years old doing my stepmom’s makeup, and I was always the one doing my friends’ makeup for school dances. It feels full-circle now, like I was always being guided here.
