We recently had the chance to connect with Adrian Mompoint and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Adrian , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? When was the last time you felt true joy?
The most recent moment of true joy for me was bumping into someone I’d met at the gym six months earlier. He admitted to me he suffers from schizophrenia and depression and was having a tough time losing weight. I shared some workout advice with him at the time, and when I saw him again, he told me he’d followed it and lost over 30 pounds. Seeing how proud he was—and knowing I’d helped spark that change—made me genuinely happy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Adrian M. Mompoint. I’m a signed big and tall model, film and stunt actor, stunt coordinator, and photographer. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my work in stunt coordination and continuing to grow my photography business.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My fifth-grade teacher, Mr. Friend. He believed in me in a way I didn’t yet believe in myself. He pushed me, corrected me, and held me accountable—whether I messed up or did something right, he’d call my mom, because he wanted her to know exactly who I was becoming. He could tell when I was just trying to coast through class, and he never let me get away with it. Back then, I didn’t understand why he was so hard on me. But as I grew older, I realized he saw something in me I hadn’t learned to see yet. He wasn’t just teaching me—he was preparing me to become someone great.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I miss the wonder and excitement of the holidays. As time passes, those special days—Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve—feel like any other day, and I realize it’s because I’ve been taking life so seriously that I’ve stopped allowing myself to truly enjoy them. I miss that feeling of magic, of anticipation, of being fully present in the moment. It’s something I’ve noticed and am working on—trying to recapture that joy I once felt so effortlessly.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I don’t believe the moon landing happened, but I can’t fully prove it to myself. I mean, we went in 1969 and haven’t been back since—how does that even make sense? I’ve been thinking about it at least once a week since I was a kid. Part of me wonders if we secretly have a moon base, or if there’s some cosmic secret, they’re not telling us. Either way, it’s the kind of mystery that keeps me imagining and questioning the world.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m swimming. The water clears my mind, slows everything down, and gives me the space to think deeply and sort through my thoughts.
