Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Afronite Stoic of Neighborhood

Afronite Stoic shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Afronite, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Most people take or avoid certain decisions just because they are afraid what others would think.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Afronite Stoic, and I am a Ghanaian artist and filmmaker whose work blends rebellion with unapologetic self expression. I work mainly in the music and fashion industries, exploring how art can shape culture and identity in real time. I’ve created album cover artworks and fashion concepts for musicians and collaborators, using my visuals to connect art and style into one cultural language.

My goal as an artist is to build a lifestyle around art that inspires the next generation to see creativity as a way of life. Through my visuals and films, I document my journey while practicing Swag Art, a philosophy of creation that celebrates confidence, individuality, and living without apology. A central part of my lifelong art project is Shadowcat, an ongoing exploration of identity and self mastery.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My first heartbreak from a long relationship

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It is better to be an authentic dark you than being a fake angelic you.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
Übermensch from Friedrich Nietzsche

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes and most times i just want the next big thing
