Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Alexia Dávila

We recently had the chance to connect with Alexia Dávila and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexia , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, the most important mentors in my life are my colleagues and friends who teach me via life and work experiences! They have taken me places I’ve never imagined before, and we have learnt many things I also wasn’t expecting to learn before getting to know them!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is Alexia Davila, also known as Fai on social media. I’m a professional architect and a freelance digital illustrator! I currently work for and with Formula 1 related brands creating hand painted posters, I also have my own series of hand painted fan-posters and portrait illustrations! I’m a fully self taught artist and have been for the past 14 years, and I keep working to show off my art and brand to the world, to leave a mark!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
As of right now, I believe mid 2023 I felt for the first time the power that I could hold on to with my art. I got approached by one of the CEO’s of the famous formula 1 app called BoxBox, they wanted to post my art in their page as promotion, and that kind of pushed me to try even harder to get my art in places I would never imagine, I felt powerful, I could send a message via my art and also be part of big projects! I will forever be grateful for the opportunities I’ve gotten since then, and greatly appreciate that feeling of power and strength my art gives me.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
When I finally spoke up, I used to feel like I was being ignored in my day to day life, I’m not as bold and confident in person as I seem online. Speaking up for myself and being bold finally got me a voice, not matter how weird and direct I might sound, when one is finally loud and clear is when the rest of the world will listen! Face up and chest out, be proud of your thoughts, because someone with a confident voice is someone that will be heard! (Even if you feel like faking confidence, that’s alright too)

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
In a way, I feel that people are truly multifaceted, my public self is part of me, so that’s the real me, as much as my private self is another part of the real me! Every part of who you show yourself as is a piece of a whole, the real me is not one single version of myself but a bunch of pieces from different scenarios and situations.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
In a way, I’ve always been a creative person. Since I was a child I’ve been into art, painting, drawing, and crafting. Somehow as I got older I was told that life wasn’t going to be fond of my love for art, but I did not budge and kept my art as an important part of my career. I chose to study architecture so that I could keep myself and my professional life connected with creativity and the intricacies of the real world. I love my career, and I love art, and I know there’s time for both! There is always time, even when you feel there’s none. I’m planning on continuing with my path of art and pursuing an art degree someday while also balancing my life as an architect, I’ll always believe you can be more than what people expected.
