Allison Landa shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Allison, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Both! I don’t see these as mutually exclusive.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a memoir and fiction writer. My book Bearded Lady explores what makes you feel weird in the world. Currently I’m editing a fiction book, Conflagration, that touches on connection, caretaking, and climate change, as well as a memoir, Ahoj: Six Months in the Czech Republic. I also teach and coach out of my home in Berkeley, CA.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with myself. It’s constantly evolving — thank goodness.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It’ll be okay. You’re okay. In fact, you’re more than okay.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. Is there any other way?
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Nothing. I don’t believe in regrets.
