Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Angel Willis of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Florida

Angel Willis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Angel , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I begin the first 90 minutes of my day with Fajr prayer, which is incredibly important to me. It sets the tone for everything that follows. Starting the day in prayer helps me align my intentions, center my thoughts, and ground myself spiritually before the world starts moving. It’s not just a ritual—it’s a moment of clarity and surrender, where I remind myself that I want my day to be led by purpose, not pressure.

Those first moments in the morning are peaceful and powerful. They allow me to start my day not with stress or distraction, but with guidance. I’m more focused, more grateful, and better prepared to handle whatever the day brings.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Angel Willis, a dedicated, multi-state Realtor with a deep passion for helping people find not just a house—but a place they can truly call home; through education and financial literacy. My journey into real estate was born from a love for community, connection, and creating spaces where people feel they belong. The world of real estate is inherited through my father, who was a real estate mogul; building and developing some of the most unique space in Boston, Massachusetts.

What sets my approach apart is a commitment to genuine relationships and personalized service. I don’t just guide clients through transactions—I walk with them through some of the biggest decisions of their lives. Whether you’re buying your first home, selling a property, or looking to invest, I’m here to make the process clear, empowering, and even enjoyable.

I operate with a heart-led mindset, bringing integrity, care, and excellence into every deal. My faith and values shape everything I do, and I believe in being a resource not just during the sale, but long after the keys are exchanged.

Right now, I’m especially focused on helping first-time buyers and families transition smoothly into their next chapter, while also building educational resources to make real estate more accessible and less intimidating to the average working class family.

In addition to working with first-time homebuyers, I’m also deeply focused on helping clients who view real estate as a smart, long-term investment strategy. Whether it’s building generational wealth, diversifying a portfolio, or purchasing a property with income potential, I provide guidance that balances current market insight with each client’s financial goals. Real estate is more than a place to live—it’s a powerful vehicle for stability, growth, and legacy.

I’m excited about what’s ahead, and after 20 years in the Sales Agent role, I am now in the process of obtaining my Brokers license. Now THAT, will be a huge next chapter that we’ll discuss the next time we connect. Please, I invite you all to follow my journey!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
When I was struggling to find my footing, especially during the early days of pursuing real estate, my Nana Bonnie was the one who believed in me the loudest. I still remember preparing for the real estate exam— I was a single mother of a 2 year old, I didn’t even have a reliable car at the time, and she drove me every single time I took that test. Three, or four times. Every time I failed, I’d come to her discouraged, ready to give up, saying, “Maybe this isn’t for me. Maybe this is a sign.” And every single time, she’d shut that doubt down immediately! She insisted I try again—so much so that she paid for my last two exams herself.

While I was already starting to look into other career paths, she never wavered. She was absolutely convinced that real estate was my calling—even when I couldn’t see it.

She passed away in 2015, and not a day goes by that I don’t wish she could see where I am now. The career I’ve built, the clients I’ve helped, and the impact I strive to make—it’s all a reflection of her belief in me. She saw the potential, the purpose, and the perseverance in me when I couldn’t.

Because of Nana Bonnie, I kept going. And because of her, I’m here.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
After I first got licensed, one of my very first opportunities came from my father—he gave me a listing, and it was a big one. I wanted nothing more than to make him proud and prove that I could really do this. I worked hard, and eventually, I found a buyer on my own. It felt like everything was falling into place.

That deal was just shy of a million dollars—huge for a brand new agent like me. I was riding the high of thinking I had secured my first major sale… until the buyer pulled out. I was devastated. It wasn’t just the loss of the deal—it was the crushing disappointment of feeling like I had let my father down, like I wasn’t good enough. I had put so much pressure on myself to succeed, and when it all fell apart, I didn’t just feel defeated—I felt done.

I ended up stepping away from real estate for a while. I lost confidence and truly questioned whether I was cut out for this business.

But over time, I realized that my love for real estate never left me. I missed the work, the people, the impact, even the challenges. So I came back—but with a new mindset. That experience, as painful as it was, taught me that things won’t always go well, and failures will happen—sometimes big ones. But those moments don’t define you. It’s consistency and the ability to keep going, and learning how to navigate those difficult moments, that truly leads to success in this field.

Now, every time I face a setback, I think back to that first heartbreak- and I use it as fuel. It no longer discourages me. It reminds me how far I’ve come, and why I chose this path in the first place. Every setback is a lesson and test to teach strategy to navigate to the other side of that setback to success!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is definitely real, what people see publicly is the professional Angel: dedicated, focused, and passionate about my career. That part of me is genuine and comes from years of hard work and professionalism. But like anyone, there’s more to me than what’s shared publicly.

What most people don’t often see is the more laid-back, playful, fun-loving side of me—the version that lets her hair down, dances in the kitchen while cooking, and sings 90s R&B with my sister for hours on a Saturday night! That side is reserved for my family and close friends, and it’s just as real, just a little more protected.

I’ve always been a naturally private person, not because I’m hiding anything, but because I truly value privacy. I believe in having a healthy balance between my public life and my personal one. For me, keeping some things sacred—especially time with my family and loved ones is how I stay grounded.

So yes, the public version of me is authentic. But at home, I don’t need to maintain a professional image. I get to just be Mom, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Friend—and that’s a part of me I cherish deeply.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I believe my clients would truly miss the high level of personalized care and support I provide throughout every step of the real estate process. I take pride in offering a concierge-style experience—managing the details, anticipating their needs, and doing everything I can to minimize their stress.

I go above and beyond to communicate directly with lenders, attorneys, and all parties involved, so my clients don’t have to be overwhelmed by the behind-the-scenes coordination. I act as a central point of contact, streamlining the entire process and ensuring everything moves smoothly and efficiently.

My clients often tell me they appreciate my patience, thoroughness, and calm approach, especially during what can be a very emotional and high-stress time. I don’t just facilitate transactions—I guide, educate, and advocate for them at every stage. That level of care, consistency, and commitment to excellence is something I know they would deeply miss.
