Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Anna Paulette

We recently had the chance to connect with Anna Paulette and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Myself, it took a lot for me to build confidence in not my exterior but my interior. When I was a child, I was bullied in elementary school, and it affected me on making relationships especially close ones. I always give people the benefit of the doubt more than myself, but i’ve learned along the way that I am first and people will want to hurt you not because of you doing anything. You could want to put yourself aside. You could be the sweetest person in the room. But at the end of the day, it’s not about you, it’s about them. It’s a reflection about them. And I think as an empath, it took me a long time for me to realize that. It was never me, it was more about them. I think my inner child would be really proud.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello I am Anna Paulette i’m a realtor in New York City and a actor. I’ve been in the city for over ten years. I’ve been here fighting for my dreams that long and continue to. I’m currently working on projects that i’m really excited to share, such as a new show that will be launching very soon. I’m from a small town next to the border called Calexico. I moved to new york in my early twenties.Got signed to BMG. and grew from there after modeling for fifteen years since I was a teen. I merged into acting and I got discovered by a director on a tv show set.I was an extra. He had mentioned my potential and decided to send me an audition. He had this script for over ten years. And upon meeting me and sending the audition, he was convinced he should finish the script. And that is how Bishops Cove was born! You can find it on amazon prime.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was told because I came from such a small town. The only potential I really had was to go to college to the next town over and either become a nurse there. And settle down, get married have kids. I never wanted that for myself. And if I expressed that, I would get bullied. Nobody expected me to leave.Nobody expected me to last this long in New York City much less in the entertainment industry I believe. I never had support from a lot of people that I expected.I was going to receive support from. But that’s okay, that’s one thing about me.I love to prove people wrong. It gives me more of a drive. My ambition comes from it.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fact that what would happen if I wasn’t going to make it? Will I be broke? Will I live in a car like robin williams? If I didn’t book a role, where would the money come? How would I pay rent? It was so much fear but I knew that I had to leave my small town.I knew that I had to pursue what I wanted to do because if I didn’t.I knew I was going to be miserable.I didn’t want to settle. I wanted to grow, I wanted to grow as a performer.I consider it to be an emotional translator I wanted to help people in a way that films helped me understand my own emotions and that what I was feeling is okay. What I was feeling is normal that my feelings were valid. After covid, everything became once again so uncertain, which is why I dived into real estate. It gave me the confidence in my dictation, help me pay the rent when I didn’t book roles, and I met amazing people through it.I find that path so flexible for my career. And i’m happy I never held back.I’m happy I decided to keep pursuing it after covid.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Depends on who you ask. A lot of people get to know different versions of me depending on my mood like any other human being. So of course you can hear a couple of things that are nice about me.A couple of things that are not that nice. One thing is certain I always try to make someone smile with a compliment or make them feel better in general.I do believe in karma.I do believe in things coming back to you times two

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely, it makes no difference. It’s literally called life.Everyone will praise you if you make something really, really extraordinarily big happen like a huge role on television or on broadway or a huge sale on a listed property. But nobody really knows the time that you put into it.The effort that you put into it.What it took you to make that happen only, you know, nobody praises you behind closed.Doors you have to and I find that to be challenging once there’s so many things going on around in your life.Whether it be personal or not, sometimes it’s not a good day. But you have to be there for yourself.Nobody will treat you better than yourself.
