Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Astrus* of Dallas, Texas

We recently had the chance to connect with Astrus* and have shared our conversation below.

Astrus*, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I think right now i am chasing being talented, more talented than i ever been before. I want to get really good at my craft. I think if i stopped i would go back to my old habits.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
my name is astrus* I am an independent musician from Dallas, Texas. I am a “genre soup” sort of artist. I make a lot of things, that mix well together well but aren’t necessarily a specific genre. Ive been doing this professionally for the past 8 years, and truly feel like my music has elevated. I am currently working on my next album and it’s the best music i’ve made thus far.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I think my family taught me the most about work. Seeing my parents really work hard to improve their life, starting with nothing and making something great has been inspiring. My brother also showed me what never giving up and continuously working looks like. The drive they all have has influenced me to keep going and bet on myself. I owe all my success to them.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Music. Music has always helped my life more than anyone or anything has. It has given me an outlet to help others and help myself let out my feelings. Growing uo i didn’t have anyone to really talk to so music was the only thing that keept me going.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes it is. Sometimes things are a bit exaggerated but i definitely do not put on a fake persona, i think people would have easily seen through me if i did.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Nothing, I have been doing everything i’ve ever wanted and will continue to live this way.
