We recently had the chance to connect with B-Eazy and have shared our conversation below.
Hi B-Eazy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yeah, my son recently went to prom and graduated from high school. Those moments filled me with an overwhelming sense of pride.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m B-Eazy, an emcee/songwriter/actor hailing from the Windy City of Chicago. My company Different By Choice Entertainment is dedicated to artistic excellence in all things entertainment. Though our primary focus has been music, we’ve got a couple film projects we’re working on. I think the thing that makes us special is our authenticity and dedication to providing quality entertainment.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother. She always believed I’d be something great, even when I didn’t. I think that’s true for a lot of people though, grandparents usually think very highly of their grandkids. But, her belief in me made me want to prove her right.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me just how strong I truly am and it also showed me who was really around because they rocked with me and who was just hanging around me so they could benefit from what I had going on. When you’re successful or at least look like you could possibly be successful, everyone’s your friend. But, when the chips are down and you aren’t as beneficial any more… that’s when the truth exposes itself.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
This is a good question… I think that a lot of truly smart people are making the mistake of dumbing themselves down in order to fit in with the masses. It’s the craziest sh*t… to see someone who you know is smarter than what they’re showing people, engage in behavior and activities that aren’t really them just to fit in with the “in crowd”.
You can’t pull a person out of the quicksand by getting in with them.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m in the studio. That’s my happy place. I’m usually in the studio by myself so it’s always therapeutic. I usually light an incense or a candle, smoke and just vibe out.
